I'm running a fresh install of ubuntu 8.10 x86 with the latest updates
as of today. I'm using the proprietary nvidia driver and compiz is
activated. For some reason whenever I press ctrl+c to, for example, copy

I'm using an up-to-date Kubuntu Hardy 32 bit and I've noticed this
problem a couple of times. I've attached a screenshot of the most recent
occurrence.
brltty seems to be installed on my computer -- must've come on the cd.
Restarting Adept doesn't help. After fetching updates Blender got the
I believe this problem can be solved by changing the visibility
preferences in the settings. You have to click on 'Always Visible', then
click 'Hidden', then click 'Always Visible' again. It worked for me in
any case.

I misread the "solution" - I thought adding backports to the software

Last Saturday I got my brandnew Lenovo Thinkpad LS500 NRJ9AGE and installed
Intrepid Ibex (8.10) 64bit.
The problems concerning the hotkeys are still up2date for this modell. I read
that with hotkey-setup 0.1.28ubuntu7 the problems should be fixed, but
unfortunately not for my SL500.

1) Run seahorse

I tried changing "Sound Events" and "Music and Movies" to both
pulseaudio and alsa. Both worked with the test (and my sound system
generally works). However in all cases I get the same trace:

I have investigated the problem and it is a bug of evince. Both methods
shown in the initial posting lead to a PDF-to-PostScript conversion via
evince. Firefox is not able to display PDF files by itself and therefore
it calls evince in a default installation of Ubuntu. And in the second

I'm suffering the same on an Asus F3Tc.
Suspend/resume was working as expected on Hardy; now on Intrepid it
suspends, appears to be suspended for 1-2 seconds, then the disk light
comes to life and the laptop resumes itself.
