Benq Joybook 7000 (ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600) - no problems in Gutsy or Hardy,
but ghastly low resolution and aspect ratio only in Intrepid - Ubuntu 8.10 does
not seem to detect the correct video hardware.
I've read through all above posts and many sound like Klingon or give
Enrico: Which MS Office files specifically? Are their newer XML ones
also zipfiles?

Situation gets even worse - after clean reinstall Ubuntu server 8.10 and
Xvfb from actual repos I've got Xvfb process hanged with 95% CPU load

I supposed that is simple to install the new kernel, because all the
upgrade will take along time, and sometimes don't adapted to the old

I continue to have this problem. I think it is related to putting my
laptop on standby. So far the standby mode has been far more reliable
than the previous Ubuntu version (Hardy LTS would often not wake up at
all), but on some startups I get flooded with messages at the console

I believe an unfortunately side effect of having PPAs is that people
just add them to their systems and don't spend the time to have the
issue resolved in the mainline distribution resulting in bugs like this
becoming stalled.
Unfortunately I don't know the procedure to push this bug onwards
I built the new package ptlib and new opal version from Debian
experimental and merged Debian experimental's ekiga package.
However, when I actually tried out 3.0 I was pretty shocked to be
honest. It seems to have forgotten all of my 2.x settings: accounts,
call history, and it can't even read
