[Bug 301338] Re: klipper causes 1 wakeup per second when idle
Just checked the code for the poller and found this comment Update: Now there's also support for XFixes, so in case XFixes support is detected, only XFixes is used for detecting changes, everything else is ignored, even Qt's clipboard signals. So compiling klipper with XFixes should actually solve the problem. [Bug 276384] Re: Thinkfinger doesn't unlock keyring
mannheim: As explained above by otzenpunk and J0rd, gnome-keyring has to face a different problem than PAM. PAM can arbitrarily decide to allow a user to log in, it is completely mastering this authorization process. It is not the case of gnome-keyring, which stores the passwords in an encrypted file on the disk. To decrypt you passwords, you need the master password of the keyring, this is a technical/physical/absolute requirement. What would be needed is to replace the master password with something you can get from fingerprints. But that's not easy, if even possible: images are always different, and you would have to find a constant feature of your fingerprint without being able to compare with precedent images. Possibly a realm of investigation for future developments, but certainly not a bug to fix! So the only solution here can be to remove secure storage of your passwords by setting an empty master password. Use at your own risk if you lose your laptop! For now, I guess this bug must be closed. -- Thinkfinger doesn't unlock keyring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/276384 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 301353] [NEW] [Intrepid Ibex] ATA exception on resume from suspend
Public bug reported: On resume from suspend in Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) the ATA driver throws a series of exceptions, as a result the filesystems can not be accessed and the computer needs to be rebooted. Hibernate, however, does work and does not have this problem, suspend / resume only. The linux kernel version is the latest 2.6.27-7. The initial error message on resume is: btusb_intr_complete: hci0 urb f7d94a00 failed to resubmit (2) ata2: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x9 t4 ata2: irq_stat 0x0040, connection status changed ata1: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x9 t4 ata1: irq_stat 0x0040, connection status changed sd 0:0:0:0: rejecting I/O to offline device PM: Device 0:0:0:0; failed to resume: error 65536 Then, as nothing is able function properly, the most repeated error message is as follows: ata1: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x400 action 0xe frozen ata1: SError: { DevExch } ata2: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x400 action 0xe frozen ata2: irq_stat 0x0040, connection status changed ata2: SError: { DevExch } There are a variety of other error messages thrown about ext3 file systems not being to be re-mounted, but I haven't been able to capture those yet. I'm running a fresh copy of Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), with the latest updates, on a reasonably new HP Pavilion dv5 (1075er) notebook. Rationale: Originally I posted my problem under bug $158050 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158050) but later I realised that this was for an older kernel version. Then I thought that bug #273323 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/273323) would be a better fit, but that has since digressed into a KDE discussion, entirely irrelevant to my problem. I've looked at every Intrepid suspend / resume bug listed and none are specific to my distribution version, kernel version or hardware so I'm starting a new one. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 2.6.27-7 ata filesystem mount resume sata sleep -- [Intrepid Ibex] ATA exception on resume from suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

sorry for this Fench digression ! the ov51x-jpeg package I used here to report an ubuntu bug is the source package proposed by the Ubuntu distribution ; therefore this is the one I used to try to rebuild the ov51x module fo my Hercules Classic webcam (in the package there are the following files : ov511-decomp.c, ov518-decomp.c, and v519-decomp.c this is all I can tell) ; my web cam worked fine before when for previous kernel 2.6.27-7 I compiled the module from an extra package including a patch + modprobe ov51x-jpeg forceblock=1 ; this extra package called ov51x-jpeg-1.5.9 can still be compiled againt kernel 2.6.27-8 but now this is a dead end as for some reasons something has been changeg in last kernel making webcams not directly usable ; some people say that a new lib4l lib must be used in combination with somthing like : LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so camorama for camorama or FD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert.so cheese but what I am interseted in like most of the people is to have skype working and it does not ! -- ov51x-jpeg-source (even latest version 1.5.8) won't build against kernel 2.6.27 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 301362] [NEW] Apple Aluminium Keyboard Function Keys Gone
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 7.10 no problems at all On Ubuntu 8.04 Numeric Keypad didn't work and thus some alpha keys Now on Ubuntu 8.10 Keypad works But F1-F19 doesn't work so I cannot activate a lot of the important commands like Alt+F2 to run something or Alt+F7 or other important keys. I Have tried to change the keyboard to different types from Keyboard PreferencesLayoutKeyboard Model with no success. It is something probably related to the kernel. [Bug 301364] [NEW] Intel ethernet card and RealTek card seem to conflict
Public bug reported: Using ubuntu 8.04.1 The guys on #ubuntu IRC seemed to think this is a kernel bug. Most interesting. [Bug 286438] Re: knotify4 crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen()
I removed the package phonon-backend-xine and now the system shuts down without the crash. However on startup there is an error message, that Intel HDA is not responding and it falls back to default.
