I did a clean install of 8.10 and I am using a clean F-Spot Library
(f-spot-0.5.0.3-0ubuntu4). I now have 1,2 GB of RAM and a newer NVidia driver

It hangs detecting (?) acpi devices. last two messages are:
ACPI: Sleep Button (CM) [SLPB]

before that it detects AC Adapter, Power Button (FM), Lid Switch and
Power Button (CM). No other messages or errors after that (i waited just
a minute or so)

I can confirm this on AMD64 architecture as well - system was an AMDx2,
1GB RAM. This was a friends PC, so I don't have all the HW details, but
I will update once I can get the info.
This install was attempted w/the Desktop CD (AMD64 arch). We
downloaded/burned twice to be sure, and CD's passed
