It is the second case: You have installed Ubuntu before Windows or while
installing Ubuntu the hard drive with the Windows partition is not
plugged in.
Your suggestion to add an option to System - Administration - Time and
Date sound good and would solve this problem too.

Public bug reported:
I've reproduced this problem on 8.04 and 8.10. I have an HP PSC 1210
and I've installed the latest HPLIP, run HP-CHECK and worked through all
the errors and warnings until there are NONE. I can print fine, but I
cannot scan.
When I attempt to initiate a scan through XSANE,
the i386 version of Ubuntu works with VirtualBox , although the
resolution in low.
My original post was using 9.10 Alpha 1 x86_64 as a guest, using KVM on
the host.

The solution brings back arrow keys, but if you use a non-US keyboard
some keys stop working. For instance, if you set keyb es to use a
Spanish keyboard, the ñ key doesn't work anymore and - is shown as

Using a newer version of the driver removes the error in dmesg. I followed this

It can be closed. GPM now works correctly in Intrepid Ibex.
I'm happy it's fixed and so glad because of the helpful reactions here

I have just upgraded with kernel 2-6.27-10 64 bits on Intrepid and again the
same (no update !) ov51x-jpeg package does not compile. Here is what I get with
command make :
$ make

Public bug reported:
This was an automatic software update for intrepid Ibex on my OLPC XO
laptop. This install is very buggy. I don't really know what I'm
doing, so don't have any more information. I'm not looking for a
solution for this problem, just thought I'd report it.
