after proposed kernel update cheese almost works on my DELL INSPIRON 1520.
- It does not crash anymore
- I can select any resolution but...
If I select 640*480, which should be the webcam native resolution, I just get a
black screen in the cheese window. It does not crash, but it does not work
Well, the action on this bug report wasn't exactly overwhelming ...
In the meantime I discovered how I can get the modem to work by brute
force, but someone more competent than me needs to change this into
something presentable!It seems to be solely an issue of file
permissions.

I can also confirm this bug in Intrepid as muting and unmuting the
master channel does not affect the sound.
When the mute /unmute button is pushed the volume that shows up under
master channel remains at the same level, with a mute symbol yet the
sound remains the same.

I think I have the same or a similar problem. Sometimes, for example, my
2 key generates a trademark symbol, and instead of the at-sign I get the
ae character. I have looked at xev and xmodmap, and the problem is that
every character I type has state 0x2000, for example this is me pressing

This behaves fine with the BR-Script3 PPD, also with the footmatic PPD
with the one exception that the foomatic PPD insists on collating even
if you do -o Collate=False. This is not a change in behavior, it does
that with 2ubuntu4 as well.

I confirm that the latest cpdftocps filter (adding -a to grep) has
resolved the printing problem for me. (I've just spend a lot of time to
search why my printer was not working anymore, fond the bug, corrected
myself, searched on cups svn this file that was not existing, to finally
