to upgrade to linux 2.6.27-11-generic which is available in intrepid-
proposed and then use the nodfs mount option. If that fixes the problem

Gnome doesn't force any application to quit, it just sends a TERM
signal (kill $PID), which is a nice kill.
After 5 seconds if an application is still running, it displays a window

I confirm this bug, it's quite annoying. I have two drives and cannot
predict which one will be /dev/sda and which one will be /dev/sdb after
booting. Hence, the only thing I can do is select by the ids in

Opening an .m3u file from Nautilus results in the tracks being listed in
totally random order in Rhythmbox. Opening the same .m3u file in Totem
does not suffer this problem. The playlist's track order is correctly
maintained.
However, opening the same .m3u file in Rhythmbox by using
Addition: the proposed bugfix of Jakob works for me. After rebooting,
the disk parameters are indeed set to the values in /etc/hdparm.conf.

OK, I can reproduce this now with the same backtrace. I have exactly the
same issue with the debugging symbols. It turns out the package needed
for the symbols is libqt4-xmlpatterns-dbg. However, there is currently
an issue with our qt debugging packages which is being tracked as bug
261380 so
I reopen the bug, as it is valid, I can confirm it. I use ASUS A6B00U
notebook (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/AsusA6B00U) on
fully updated Hardy. What can I check to help?
