after telling me that there was an error installation continued.
All was fine just the menu.lst wasnt changed at all, so the old kernel was
loaded by default.
Changed it by hand to 2.6.27.11 and all was ok.

I have the same problem. Ubuntu 8.10, installed Sun Java 5 ( I need 5 because
6 doesn't work with Oracle forms), but OO doesn't see it and trying to add it
is unsuccessful. (It claims there is no Java in the folder I select, but it's
lying to me.) Pointing it to /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1
The bug doesn't happen with a new user. So it must be caused by the upgrade
process itself.
While I'm at it, my icon theme was screwed (wrong icons at all places, very
confusing) as well after the upgrade, but I could fix it by re-setting it in
the configuration screen.

Hi,
I think I get the same problem here on my 8.10. I connect to different
wireless LANs with my notebook. I also use openvpn and vpnc. My problem
ist, that dhcpcd somehow REMEMBERS its resolv.conf configurations and
still applies settings from different WLANs or VPNs when I connect to
new WLANs.
The .doc file looks blank under Office 2007 as well, so I am not sure
this is a bug. What was the .doc originally created in?

I just ran the repro again on my intrepid box to make sure it still
repros and it did. After that I enabled -proposed and I installed your
updated package and ran the repro again and now the bug is gone.
I'm not a big rhythmbox user myself so I won't do any extensive testing

Does default-jre (openjdk-6) work for the two of you, Tux and Chanchao?
Sun Java is proprietary and we can't really support it, so if it has
bugs there is nothing really we can do. OpenJDK is the open source
version of Sun Java and should work with OOo.

Even after several updates on 2.6.27-11-generic regarding power-
management the symptoms are the same.
The WLAN can not connect after resume. Sometimes it helps to remove and
insert the card after resume.
Another work around that seems to reliable reactivate WLAN.

Okay, it sounds like it could be some sort of configuration option, that gives
a problem. Is it real fullscreen (eg. the border of the window is gone as
well)? This behavior is done by the window manager which in the case of a
gnome-session normally is either metacity or compiz.

Ok, I found a work-around. As you suggested, I turned off compiz in
Gnome (System->Preferences->Appearance->Visual Effects->None) and now
everything works as normal again. When I turn compiz on again ('Normal
effects'), the apps go in 'true' full screen again.

I've tried to reproduce your issue using Ubuntu 8.10 but update-manager
worked as expected! I clicked the orange icon of update-manager and let
it download and install some updates. While it was downloading and
installing the new packages, the icon stayed grey.
