I tried installing version 0.27 from source in both Ubuntu Hardy and Debian 5.0. It's the same thing, UFW won't autostart on reboot. I enabled it before reboot (ufw enable) and when I run 'ufw status' after a reboot, it shows Status: inactive. My solution is to use cron to enable ufw on reboot.
