The bug occurs on shutdown if you mount a CIFS share (using mount or
/etc/fstab). In some cases, S31umountnfs.sh tries to unmount the network
file system *after* the network

(downloading the packages and installing them) the update screen
perfectly fits the screen.

Most people who have this problem don't have this problem for very long

It does make sense to have the latest version as the backport. I'm not
sure why you would prefer 1.42 over 1.51. The latest version includes a
large number of bugfixes.
1.42 is no longer in the Ubuntu archive as it has been replaced by 1.51

No it's not, you probably didn't build libical with the option to abort
on errors which means things are still buggy but in an less obvious way

transmission crashed with SIGSEGV in event_base_loop()
I just got Intrepid and Jaunty to boot with my setup. It seems that if
the SATA DVD Drive is plugged into a higher port number and the SATA
drives are in front of it - it works.. For example:

I'm getting a a lot of crashes when I start kde but the applications that it
says have crashed haven't crashed.
I think this one was update-notifier that crashed. This was happening
before the upgrade to qt 4.5rc1

My Sony laptop had a hardware failure, and I replaced it. So, unfortunately,
I'm unable to help any more. Now running Kubuntu 8.10 on an Acer Aspire and
it's working great.
