[Bug 162253] Re: openssh: want hpn-ssh for 20x speed improvement!
It's not really a question of packager/developer, or Debian vs Ubuntu (especially since in this case the Debian OpenSSH maintainer happens to also be an Ubuntu OpenSSH maintainer). Debian and Ubuntu got burned in the past over OpenSSH patches, I'm pretty sure we won't integrate this in the openssh package until it makes it to OpenSSH upstream. That doesn't prevent someone else from providing, as proof of concept, PPA packages of hpn-ssh. That could help in demonstrating how great it can be. -- openssh: want hpn-ssh for 20x speed improvement! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162253 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 340383] [NEW] dhcpd sends 127.0.1.1 as DNS server
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dhcp3-server I believe this is a bug. Ubuntu configures sets the hostname in /etc/hosts and assigns it to 127.0.1.1: 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.1.1 server.example.com server The dhcpd server picks this up and sends it as primary DNS server (DHCP and DNS are on the same machine here) to dhcp clients (see attached dhcpdump output). Assigning the wrong DNS server leads to timeouts on Mac and Linux (Unix) clients, but it does not seem to affect Windows systems. As soon as I comment 127.0.1.1 in /etc/hosts out and restart the dhcpd server the problem is gone. I did not find a configuration option for dhcpd to supress this and I also think even if it was there it should not be used for this. The entry 127.0.1.1 seems to be wrong in my opinion. I'm not sure what you were trying to do exactly. As far as I can tell for the dkpg logs, you removed postfix twice, then you reinstalled it, and at the last reinstall it wouldn't start. Did you change anything in /etc/postfix ? Is that directory even there? Did you remove the directory after uninstalling the postfix package? Try moving the directory /etc/postfix, like mv /etc/postfix /etc/postfix.backup, then purging the postfix packages with 'apt-get --purge remove postfix', then reinstalling it. See if you get this same error again. Maybe try to describe what you were trying to do, what commands did you run. Would be helpful. -- package postfix 2.5.5-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340404 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to postfix in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 292161] Re: [caps lock] caps inverted with led if caplocks is on when changing mode
Hello again all. sorry for being quiet on this, as I've been unable to replicate the problem until today, however I think this is a more serious issue, or maybe a related keyboard layout problem in general. Yesterday I upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid on my works desktop (I am assuming that the OP is using Intrepid?) Investigation lead me to an issue with dual keyboards and the caps lock key. Firstly. if you change to CAPS on one keyboard, the CAPS lock doesn't turn off untill you have turned on CAPS lock on the second, and then turned it off on both. Also for inputing the sudo password there is an issue with function also. I have the English keboard set as default for my use after logon. Whenever I perform an action that requires the entry of my sudo password I am unable to enter it. This seems to be because the system is expecting me to use the French Keyboard, but I have no way of knowing if the keyboard has the CAPS lock on or off, as the light doesn't reflect the action of the keyboard. Hence I never have enough attempts to get the code correct, and one I start again I have the same problem as I don't know how the layout is set! Ok so now it gets worse I tried to do su from the terminal, the function of the caps lock key is completely topsy turvy. I need to log on as su from the french keyboard (or so it seems) but I need to change the caps lock on both the English and French keyboard at the same time (here is where it gets confusing), when I change it on the French the keyboard layout becomes as if it was the english keyboard (so the password isn't accepted) but when I change the caps on the english the layout returns to the french! I can't remove the french layout, as I need to log on as sudo, but can't logon as sudo unless I use the layout of the french keyboard with the english keyboard whilst the French / English caps lock key is both on and off on the alternate same keyboard... I hope you are keeping up here.. I'm not sure I want to continue as it seems as though there is some sort of loop in the system that I can't get out of! I can confirm that this isn't an issue on my laptop, where I have a second external keyboard connected, but they are both on the same layout. So I now have another problem. I am going to be unable to perform any updates, as I won't be able to enter my sudo password! I'm going to see if using a different kernel helps, currently I'm using 2.6.27.11 generic I also noticed that there are a load of options for the activity of the caps lock key in the settings for the keyboard layout, but again of course I can't change any of them as I can't log in as root! I think this bug needs to be upgraded in importance. But I don't know how anyone suffering the problem will be able to do the update ! ;) I may do a clean install without the french keyboard, not that I really have time for that sort of messing about! [Bug 340401] [NEW] Import from Local Folder should allow you to select more than one folder to import from
Public bug reported: If I have 5 folders on my desktop that I'd like to import into banshee, I'd like to be able to go to 'File' 'Import Media...' 'Local Folder' and then control click all the folders, and import all those folders in one go. [Bug 337602] Re: totem-gstreamer(-video-indexer) crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc() on fully updated Jaunty
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You have reported a crash that actually happened in the libavcodec or libavformat library. In order to be able to actually fix this bug, we must be able to: 1. Reproduce it; 2. Check if it happens with the latest version; and 3. Understand where it actually crashes. You can help with the first point by attaching an example file to this bug report. Please note that a proper attachment is preferred over a link to some remote site. Remote sites that are password protected or otherwise restricted (services like rapidshare.com) are absolutely not acceptable. If you're file is too large, try to reproduce with the first few MB only. See http://ffmpeg.org/bugreports.html section Submitting Sample Media for guidelines. ** Changed in: ffmpeg-debian (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- totem-gstreamer(-video-indexer) crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc() on fully updated Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/337602 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 292161] Re: [caps lock] caps inverted with led if caplocks is on when changing mode
Ok I'm back again I'm still using the same kernel by the way I thought I had solved the problem. However the system hasn't remembered the setting, I'll try a reboot in a second, and each window that opens seems to have an issue with deciding which layout to choose! Also the english layout is active on the french keyboard sometimes and the French on the English!! I guess that this was actually the real problem, and mixing of the layouts that are available to the system, obviously they are being activated / changed with the use of the CAPS lock key (even though this isn't the default setting - I haven't changed anything I just looked). I'll try a reboot and see what happens! -- [caps lock] caps inverted with led if caplocks is on when changing mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292161 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
