This appears to still be the case on portables, specifically for me, on
a Lenovo SL500. Using the Function key to increase brightness by
pressing the "brightness UP" key combo, will raise the display
brightness by one notch; subsequent key presses will then decrease the
brughtness a single notch, a

I can confirm gonetils report with KDE 4.2 and Amarok 1.4.10. For me the
forward and backward keys stoppend working with Amarok if the Amarok
window isn't focused. The keys are regognized, produce proper events
(verified with xev) and work if Amarok is focused.

Hello, here is the kernel compiled with module amd74xx. It's the same
Ubuntu kernel, just add old (and good) support for cdrom and amd74xx

Java 1.6.0_07 is 'Sun Java' which is a proprietary binary only jdk.
openjdk-6 is the new open source java jdk which was why I was asking if
you had tested with openjdk-6 it is a separate and generally less buggy
version.

Nice to hear I'm not alone with this problem. For me it helps if i add
these lines below to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base but if you have pci or
integrated sound card I don't believe this would help. After modifying
alsa-base file I still hear some rasping but a lot of less than before.

Thank you for reporting this. The problem is that the behaviour you
experience is what is to be expected. Rhythmbox is supposed to pause
when the space bar is depressed. I am going to mark this bug as invalid
for this reason.
