sorry for answering late. To compile the Kernel for Jaunty follow the
advice on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=311158 (Master Kernel
Thread) and replace all occurence of string 2.6.29 by 2.6.27.
I'm now 10 days without any freeze (even under absolute heavy load)!

I am having the same problem using Ubuntu Server 9.04 (Jaunty). The
machines is the Atom 330 based board D945GCLF2 with the RealTek RTL8111C

Applying the optimal configuration from the following post has fixed the
issues with the screen tearing when scrolling through the lotus notes
documents. The Intel driver is still the same version i was previously
using so the fix must have come in either the kernel updates or in the
fixmtrr.sh
Can you run

and let it pull in all the extra info for each hardware configuration, this

/var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf had no effect. Searching for help
I found a number of messages warning that incorrect formatting gets
ignored so I copied lts.conf to /etc in the chroot and ran ltsp-update-

I think I found the problem.
I narrowed it down by changing values in the rc file until it didn't work any
more.
in the [Views] section just set Separator AgendaView to 0,0 - then
KOrganizer shows the grey panel.
I don't know how, but KOrganizer (maybe just in an earlier version, or an
update?)

The old Intel 2.4 driver combined with the new kernel updates and script has
fixed all screen tearing issues.
Re installing the old 2.4 driver has also now improved the compiz performance
significantly to almost what i was originally getting with intrepid.

I confirm unusual behavior in Jaunty:
- most notifications are not displayed (e.g. the inhibit-sleep warning,
although power manager is configured to display it).

I have a same problem with OpenOffice 3 in Ubuntu Jaunty (upgraded).
When a import a CVS file, edit a spreadsheet, save it, and click in
CLOSE or EXIT, OpenOffice crashes, and go to Recovery Screen.
If you don't saved your work you will loose it. If you save it before,
you can do a successful

I agree with Wolfgang. I don't even have compiz installed. Tags should
probably be xorg, ati and maybe kwin (although I doubt that kwin is the

Update 2:
Upon further investigation, it seems that the DVI monitor and computer
go out of sync and that is what causes the blinking. As a workround I
have I found that after reducing the resolution of the DVI monitor the
issue has ceased. It is unfortunate since it is now running at 1280x960

The finch package needs to have a dependency set for dbus. Without this,
it has numerous errors on startup.
In addition, finch does not work in GNU screen. This is probably a bug
with the software itself, though.

When working on my computer, I always check Show Windows from All
Desktops for firefox.
Since I upgraded to Intrepid Ibex, firefox looses this option each times a
popup appears :
1. run firefox

Both of these issues (the drag-and-drop of files/folders and the right-
click context menu in full list-view) have bothered me for a long time;

Ok, I investigated this problem further and found out that by installing
the package gstreamer0.10-plugins-good, I was able to listen to mp3
and ogg vorbis files as well as inserting them into OpenOffice Impress
slides. Furthermore, installing the package gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
allowed me to watch
The smb.conf resolve order change is one of the first things I have to
do on new installs, so that is a work around for me. The fact that it
returns the wrong ip address on a ping command is something that I am
interested in. I tried the same tests at my office in another town and
it behaves
