I installed Jaunty 32 server on a computer to test it it out and
corrected an error in one of the scripts which may have been preventing
it from working properly. I also noticed that inetd didn't start right
away after installing, so I had to start it manually with 'sudo

I also tested the ati-installer (8.620; Catalyst 9.6) on Karmic (with
--buildpkg), but the installation of these packages failed because of an error
during kernel module compilation. So no 3D. There also was this frequency bug
with the 43Hz.

I also had this problem on Fedora 11 x86_64.
I use the floppy drive, so disabling it is NOT an option. I know most of you
don't have this type of hardware on your PC these days, but as a bit of an
old-timer, here are a few facts to consider:

After installing Jaunty updates of xserver-xorg-video-intel on my laptop

I have uploaded the current git master of devicekit-power to this PPA
incase it helps anyone, and attached a debdiff against 008-1ubuntu1. It
works for me where 008-1ubuntu1 did not on any of the 4 machines I
installed it on. Desktop systems don't notice the bug as prominently
because the default

I was having the same problem on Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-11-generic,
the problem was solved after replacing the b43 and b43 legacy
directories from /lib/firmware with the firmware on
