The other question is what are Windows XP and KDE network browsing doing
differently than
Gnome? Windows XP and KDE are not affected by this issue at all. Until I
figured out the order
change, I used smb4k without any problems
When you access \\NAME on a non-AD, non-WINS-enabled Windows,
I think it would have been, but I have no evidence to back that up.
There are no messages at all in /var/log/daemon.log at the time of the
upgrade, which in itself is a bit odd.

OK, after more than an hour of CPU time, ntfsresize appeared to finish.
It doesn't appear to have done anything as /dev/sda is still one big
NTFS partition. Now ntfsresize has started again, while Scanning
disks, as shown by Screenshot-1.png.

@Anthony: what do you mean by which gets old? I find that I need to
restart compiz exactly once after booting. FWIW I use fusion-icon to do
that, for convenience.

The same issue happened to me yesterday with Firefox 3.0.11 and a fully updated
Hardy.
At time I updated firefox I also upgraded my kernel so I restarted the system
with the restart icon in the notify area. To be honest I thought the issue of
the light bulb, that still remains in the notify

I tend to use the tsclient gui frontend more than the command line, but
when I do use the command line, I use the following:
rdesktop 192.168.2.111 -f -a 16
I am pretty sure that also roughly corresponds to the options I choose
in tsclient.

Thanks, but I don't think further confirmations are needed at this
point. The bug is already well-confirmed, and the fix is known. It's
just a matter of getting a kernel with the fix uploaded to the archive.
