I did a fresh Ubuntu 9.10 install on virtual machine and after reboot I've

workaround for me, but the clock on the guests drift a lot whenever I
forget to change the governor.

This is the data from one of the two Laptops (both dont work so i think it
should be fine with only one).
I do think the problem has something to do with the parallel-to-usb cable. not
the cable itself but the driver support in karmic (do these cables need a
driver?!)

Yes, I can play those videos fine as well. Must be a damaged video file
I was trying to play.
No bug then, unless the developers want to fix it so it doesn't crash,
but instead give an error.

Yup. It is very simple, it does not work :) (html-)Highlighted error cmd
below. no is the default ps-prog for some reason in my dist of hardy at
least.
Line numbers might not be 100% correct since I've added some debug print
statements but +- 1 or two rows.
