[Bug 493117] [NEW] Ipython shell in Mayavi2 in Karmic is broken
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mayavi2 I try to input simple python operator in ipython shell of mayavi2: for i in range(5): x = i*i print x In Jaunty, when I write line for i in range(5): end press Enter, I get new line with .: at beginning. Then I write x = i*i, press Enter and get second line .:. So I can put as many lines as I wish. But in Karmic input does not go to new line after for i in range(5):, it stays on the same line with .: added. If I press Enter i this situation, I get new .: on the same line and so infinitely. If I put some operator, like x = i*i and press Enter, loop is executed and I have no chance to put print x or other lines. This make mayavi2 for me unusable! [Bug 454113] Re: digikam crashes when click on download selected
This is exactly the kind of situation I was hoping to avoid by running Ubuntu. The Sid packages can't be installed cleanly without updating e.g. phonon to unstable, with the possible adverse consequences that may have on the stability of such a critical part of the system. Please, can we have digikam_1.0.0~rc-1 in karmic-updates? The bug is reported at least twice a day to upstream, and we owe them that we fix bugs in updates when we use betas, we're now taking resources away from development and into bug management. [Bug 493122] [NEW] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 00000002
Public bug reported: I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 off the alternate CD. Then I installed the nouveau drivers with sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg- video-nouveau. Then I modified the xorg.conf to something very complicated trying to get dual head but not really knowing what I was doing. Then I rebooted. [Bug 238418] Re: Going to top left workspace from the bottom right with arrow keys in Compiz-fusion
Hm, I cannot reproduce the bug any more either. Neither with Karmic on my home machine nor with Jaunty on my work machine. The problem was still on Jaunty on my home machine before I freshly installed Karmic. That the problem does not show on my Jaunty (upgraded from Interpid) work machine shows that this behaviour seems to depend on further conditions that I have no idea how to find out. I guess that defeats the hundred-papercuts proposal, as a requirement of that is easy fixability which in turn requires that the error has to be reliably reproducible. [Bug 491483] Re: after recent update which included xorg, xserver etc causes low-graphics mode error at start
If you have both kdm and gdm installed, you have upstart configurations for both of them: /etc/init/gdm.conf: (..) script [ ! -f /etc/X11/default-display-manager -o $(cat /etc/X11/default-display-manager 2/dev/null) = /usr/sbin/gdm ] (..) /etc/init/kdm.conf: (..) script [ ! -f /etc/X11/default-display-manager -o $(cat /etc/X11/default-display-manager 2/dev/null) = /usr/bin/kdm ] (..) Since that fatal xserver-xorg update, we also have /etc/init/failsafe-x.conf: (..) start on stopped gdm EXIT_STATUS=[!0] stop on runlevel [06] task exec /etc/gdm/failsafeXServer If kdm is the active display manager, /etc/X11/default-display-manager contains /usr/bin/kdm, so upstart will try to start both gdm and kdm, but gdm will fail because of the check quoted above. This will emit a stopped gdm event with EXIT_STATUS != 0, which will start /etc/gdm/failsafeXServer. Now both kdm and failsafeXServer are started and we have a problem. One solution is to add the following line at the start of /etc/gdm/failsafeXServer: [ ! -f /etc/X11/default-display-manager -o $(cat /etc/X11/default- display-manager 2/dev/null) = /usr/sbin/gdm ] || exit 0 This will terminate failsafeXServer if the default display manager is not gdm. [Bug 60764] Re: Large file transfer gives error: Corrupted MAC on input
Ignore my comment #62. The bug is more difficult to reproduce when downloading random files from the Internet, but it does occur every once in a while. This difficulty may have something to do with the speed or bandwidth of the download, ie. the probability of the bug showing up is less likely with low download speeds. @Peter P. Could you try this instead: On machine 1: $ nc -l -p 8080 -q 10 -v -v ubuntu-9.10-server-amd64.iso On machine 2: $ nc machine 1 address 8080 ubuntu-9.10-server-amd64.iso And then compare the md5sums. [Bug 367573] Re: Totem crashes on startup
This is certainly not a python-support problem. totem uses libpython to test-load pygtk. People reported here that removing /usr/local/bin/python helped with this situation, but totem doesn't run that. Could it be that you removed /usr/loca/lib/python* instead?
