I have the same problem with my HP Compaq. I will be happy to provide
more information. But in the mean time can someone tell me how to make
suspend and hibernate a noop. I don't want to disable or remove the
menu options, I want to make it impossible for any app to trigger them.

.ts files always get recognized as application/x-linguist and never as
video/mpeg (transport stream)
According to the documentation I installed the restricted extras
package:
sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
There were no errors during the installation.
