[Bug 505476] [NEW] Slow Randr rotation performance with r300 and XAA
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati Hi, I'm using Ubuntu karmic 9.10, when using xrandr to rotate screen on my Dell Latitude XT tablet and XAA i get very slow performance, much like incorrect refresh rates or something like that. Drawing windows is very slow and major tearing occurs on the screen. When using EXA as acceleration method the rotation works fine but i get rendering corruption in firefox. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Slow Randr rotation performance with r300 and XAA https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 312756] Re: support graphics card hot switch
Hi, I didn't see the comment by Timo requesting no more DSDT.dsl attachments. But is very disappointing for me seeing this as declined for Karmic and also for Lucid (which means that an official solution will not be available *at least* until October 2010). After many years of using Ubuntu only I had to use the included Windows 7 since battery lasts 10 hours (one of the main reasons I purchased this laptop) and also I don't have any kind of visual effects on my desktop (which means I've lost the transparency effect that was so useful for me). It should not be considered wishlist as it will surely drive users away from Ubuntu :( Hot swapping cards is not really the important thing, I would really be happy if I could select that at boot time or before the x-session is started. By killing the nvidia card I now have a little more battery, but it is not enough and not a solution. -- support graphics card hot switch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312756 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

the driver is integrated in ubuntu lucid, scroll works out of the box in the 10.4 alpha 1. this is kernel 2.6.32-7 however the fspc settings manager program won't run and in the ubuntu mouse settings screen there is nothing about a touchpad or the scrollfunction. -- Add driver for Sentelic Touch pad https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311869 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 505479] [NEW] HP6910p laptop suspends immediately after initial resume from first suspend
Public bug reported: $ uname -a Linux methy1 2.6.31-18-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 8 14:55:26 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux This is a bug that has been occurring since Intrepid. [Bug 505278] Re: ssh-add -D deleting all identities does not work. Also, why are all identities auto-added?
Upstream says that this is security vulnerability. I agree. An important one too! [Bug 505489] [NEW] wizard req'ing JRE fail to start (solution hint)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer In OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 (from the Ubuntu repositories), the letter wizard fails to start: After calling the wizard from the menu (German version Datei-Assistenten-Brief..., translates to something like File-Wizards-Letter...) happens --- just nothing :-/ And it's the same with other wizards (German version Fax, Agenda and Web-Seiten, translates to something like facsimile, agenda and webpages). Sun Java 1.6.0 is installed in two alternative flavors: - /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.15/jre (standard installation) - /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre (manually added) Activating either in Extras-Option-OpenOffice.org-Java makes no visible difference as to the above failure. With Java deactivated (got this hint in a German forum), OOo complains (see attachment) - as one would have expected - about needing a JRE for starting the letter wizard and asks if the same should now be activated. The same error message contains a further hint: The package openoffice .org-java-common needs to be installed! (And indeed this solves the problem.) [Bug 505494] [NEW] Mouse events fail frequently and unpredictably, requiring kwin restart
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace There is confusion between a number of related bugs (which didn't show up for me in Do any of the following bugs...). #478464 seems most similar to this but that's dubiously marked as a duplicate of #41301. DESCRIPTION It occurs within a few minutes after starting KDE or restarting kwin with kwin --replace. The mouse cursor continues to move where it should, but clicking either does nothing or affects an unexpected (inactive) window, and gestures such as pushing into the desktop corners also do nothing. It's as if kwin thinks the mouse cursor is frozen somewhere other than where it appears. Everything other than mouse events continues to work as expected: controlling KDE with keyboard shortcuts shows that applications, compositing and desktop effects are all fine. WORKAROUND Restart kwin with kwin --replace. None of the workarounds mentioned in the discussion for bug #41301 work for this, which is why I think it's different. BACKGROUND I'm not running Xinerama or dual screens, I have a USB mouse which works perfectly on my other machine, my Kubuntu 9.10 retains most of its default settings, windows are set to Click to Focus, and my graphics card is nVidia GeForce 6100 with the nvidia-glx-185 driver. I run regular apt updates, and first noticed this bug on 8 Jan 2010, having run KDE with very few problems for several months. I think the automatic updates on 8 Jan were for Firefox and GIMP (upgrades), but this bug occurs whether or not Firefox or GIMP are running. I have not made any configuration changes recently.
