I have the same problem. I've also tracked it down to x264. There's no
relation to mkv as it is only a container, same problem occurs with mp4
files.
GStreamer-baser playback: frames freeze, sometimes playback stops
mplayer: same as above (!)
VLC - not tested
Avidemux - ok, no problems
Malicious software in Windows has been known to try getting past simple
file type checks by spreading a zip file containing the actual
executable.
In our case, a user could get a tarball containing an executable with
the +x bit set from a malicious user.
Perhaps make file-roller ask the user

Here's a script I created that seems to work on my system for this
purpose. I placed it in /etc/pm/sleep.d/80_autofs
Of course, as expected, if any of the automounted shares are busy (any
files open), it won't do anything for them. It's just a best effort
attempt.

I had the same problem, and I tried to disable all my extensions and re-
enable them one by one. The one causing the problem is Ubuntu Firefox
Modifications. Is is great for integration with apt, but it enforces

configurations using bttv with different cards/tunners as well as
several MythTV

My eject-CD-button (hardware-button on the desktop) doesn't work.
I have dual boot win7/ubuntu9.10.
My drives are all eSATA
BIOS is AMI v 02.67 (recent)

Over the last few weeks I have update from xubuntu 8.04
LTS8.109.049.10 the step from 9.04 to 9.10 has introduced and error
message at login which stops the keyboard working and I am unable to
login at the console. I am able to ssh into the machine to get command
line access
