In all cases that I encountered so far, the correct serial port - after
switching - is the one that is assigned to an interface with an endpoint that
provides the "interrupt transfer" type.

I recompiled the audacious 2.1 package from official repositories using
this patch and for me it fixes my problem with german umlauts and french

Yeah, this was probably a different package's problem, I'm not sure
which, and can't figure out which... but it is also now working for me
as well. I'll mark g-p-m as invalid, seems like the right thing to
do...
