I am having similar problems with one of my 10.04 machines. The shutdown
button sometimes turns white leaving no way to shutdown. I have found
that log out and login restores it, but I have had to add shutdown and
log off buttons to the panel.

The second one, I suppose, is the WD MyBook 1TB FW_only_, which is a single

I can confirm, if you install lyx after a fresh installation of Lucid
Lynx. 10.04. Lyx is not working. If I try to see the LaTex Information
dialog it's all empty.
If I try to start lyx from the command line it's not even start:

Test on ext3 (Karmic upgraded to Lucid), 5400rpm notebook hd. Note that
i think in addition to dropping the caches, we have to sync before
running the test to get somewhat stable results.

After latest NVIDIA updated, which happened a few days ago, the issues
seemed to have been fixed. At least for me. I fully re-created xorg.conf
with nvidia-settings and everything works fine. So from my perspective
this bug can be closed.

I fix my problem.
For the first, i find to installed to packet like *readahead. there was:
sreadahead (as i anderstood it for SSD disk) and ureadahead.
So i purge sreadahead.
After this i did:
aptitude reinstall ureadahead
After reboot files *.pack in dir /var/lib/ureadahead/ were

drmRadeonCmdBuffer message in dmesg, but I have many of the above
described simtomes:
1) With disabled desktop effects windows refresh and scroll is very slow;
2) enabling desktop effects improves speed, but makes xorg crash and

It looks like a race condition during boot.
If it happens the visual effect can even be seen, while booting, before
the login screen. The login screen is always ok, but afterwards the
effect reappears.
There is another video effect which is new compared to Karmic. In the

INTERNAL ERROR, and in those cases the file that was being handled
stopped being synched until you fully

It appears that my compiler is to blame -I used gcc from codesourcery
2009q3-67. I'll look into it more and I'll post back. I'd appreciate any

sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor reload
