[Bug 248870] Re: [upstream] Autosave causes document to scroll back to cursor position
Thanks Jeffrey for your response! Two point are still unclear to me: A. is autosaving taking place in another thread than the display & typing? B. with option 2 I meant to copy a snapshot of the file and process this in parallel (first copy in memory, then I/O write the file). I think that I/O writing the original file interferes with using the original file at the same time, right? Anyway, working on option 3 is the best thing to do right now, I guess. -- [upstream] Autosave causes document to scroll back to cursor position https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/248870 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 572246] Re: Simple scan crashes with "buffer overflow detected"
I think Nicolas Valcarcel found the problem and is preparing a patch. [Bug 573477] Re: Mdadm array fails to assemble on boot.
ok, finished rebuilding it and ran "sudo mdadm --examine" on every device and partition. The info looks correct for: /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1 /dev/sdd1 /dev/sde1 It reports "mdadm: No md superblock detected" for: /dev/md0 /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd /dev/sde So hopefully this means that no superblock is on the devices themselves, and only the partitions. (I think I must have made the mistake of adding /dev/sde rather than /dev/sde1 the very first time, which is probably what caused all this mess). -- Mdadm array fails to assemble on boot. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573477 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

fmonroy, Thanks for reporting the bug and making Ubuntu work better with translations. Could you be more detailed on what the actual problem is? It would be also helpful if you could describe the steps with which the bug can be reproduced. [Bug 574044] Re: mountall eats 100% cpu with nfs in fstab
I have figured out this bug. It has nothing to do with nfs. The "mountall" program is entering an infinite loop in the "cut_options" function because of a logic error in the string processing. The cut_options function exists to strip mountall-only options (showthrough, optional, bootwait, nobootwait) from the option string that appears in fstab, while preserving the other options - "rw,users, soft, intr" in the original poster's case. But cut_options has a bug that causes an infinite loop when there is an option that it wants to strip, and that option is followed by a comma - that is, when a strippable option isn't the last option in the list. You'll only hit the infinite loop if the fstab entry actually needs to be mounted. You won't see it if you edit fstab to change the option string for an entry that's already been mounted, or if you add an entry for a device that doesn't exist. To repro this on a running system, first kill the mountall process running with --daemon, then add a line to fstab for a device which COULD be mounted, but which is NOT currently mounted, and which has a strippable option (like "nobootwait") followed by some other option. Like this: /dev/sda1 /mnt/xxx ext4 nobootwait,ro 0 0 In place of /dev/sda1, use any partition of any block-special device which is not already mounted. The device you pick doesn't really have to be mountable as ext4, because mountall will hang before it actually runs "mount." But the device you pick has to pass all of mountall's other sanity checks. As for the /mnt/xxx part, mountall will create that mount point for you if it doesn't exist, so you'll have to delete it after your experimenting. Having edited fstab appropriately, run "sudo mountall -v" and watch it hang and consume 100% CPU. Debug it, and hit ^C, and you will see you're in cut_options (or else a function that it calls). You are infinite looping with opts+i pointing to a comma, so j = strcspn(opt+i,",=") is always zero and you never advance. As for the fix: honestly, I tried to pick apart the logic with i, j, k, and +1 and -1 and memmove and i-- but I got all twisted up. When this logic strips an option, it keeps everything after it (including the comma) in the case where more options follow. But when that happens, opt+i ends up pointing at the comma, and from then on you never advance. If I had to fix this bug myself I would rewrite the string-handling logic completely, probably copying the options to KEEP from the original string to the new one instead of using memmove to strip OUT the options I wanted to remove. But that's just me. -- mountall eats 100% cpu with nfs in fstab https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574044 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 557072] Re: system does not power off
Yeah, I agree we should create a separate bug for touchpad issues. Anyway with bios F.26 & maverick kernel I can middle-click and right- click respectively by tapping on the bottom-center edge or bottom-right corner. Multi-finger does not work though. "circular scrolling" means you can scroll by making circles with your finger on the touchpad, basically it's a great emulation of the mouse wheel. It can be enabled in System/Preferences/Pointing device (Scrolling tab). So trying the system from a 10.04 live CD, I experience the same issue...no USB response after a period of time. Doesn't matter which usb port i try..front ports, back ports, none of them work.. I followed the instructions for the apport (while running off the live CD). I'm not sure exactly what you are wanting me to do to test the upstream kernal. I have no clue how I would go about testing it and reporting back any sort of valuable information. Re: [Bug 510717] Texts for snoozing a reminder not visible in Thunderbird Lightning with Ambiance theme
Hello, On Ububtu Lucid with default theme Ambiance, there is no problem with OpenOffice, so perhaps thing comes from NewWave Dark, but for Sunbird / Thunderbird Lightning reminder, as tado said, there is still the bad view for snoozing alarm : texts are unreadable until mouse focusing on it because too light (color very close to the background). The only way I have been able to regain usb functionality is a hard reboot, upon which it immediately starts working again. This has happened while I have worked in multiple applications so I don't think it is application specific and is a problem with the operating system. - Currently running 32bit ubuntu 10.04 on an HP Pavilion a1640n and have - no other operating systems installed + Currently running 32bit ubuntu 10.04 on an HP Pavilion a1640n and have no other operating systems installed + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: ubuntu 2754 F pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xfdff4000 irq 22' +Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC889A' +Components : 'HDA:10ec0885,103c2a36,00100101' +Controls : 42 +Simple ctrls : 23 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + Frequency: Once a day. + LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) + MachineType: HP Pavilion 061 RC663AA-ABA a1640n + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/casper/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/hostname.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash -- maybe-ubiquity + ProcEnviron: + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-21.32-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 + Regression: No + RelatedPackageVersions: linux-firmware 1.34 + Reproducible: No + RfKill: + 0: phy0: Wireless LAN + Soft blocked: no + Hard blocked: no + Tags: lucid needs-upstream-testing + Uname: Linux 2.6.32-21-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 11/24/2006 + dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies, LTD + dmi.bios.version: 3.14 + dmi.board.name: Buckeye + dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTek Computer INC. + dmi.board.version: 1.05 + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.chassis.version: + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologies,LTD:bvr3.14:bd11/24/2006:svnHPPavilion061:pnRC663AA-ABAa1640n:pvr0nx1114RE101BUCKE00:rvnASUSTekComputerINC.:rnBuckeye:rvr1.05:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct3:cvr: + dmi.product.name: RC663AA-ABA a1640n + dmi.product.version: 0nx1114RE101BUCKE00 + dmi.sys.vendor: HP Pavilion 061 ** Attachment added: "AlsaDevices.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48640874/AlsaDevices.txt -- All USB ports suddenly stop working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, I think this should be considered a major: never experienced such a disaster with Evolution, and I'm using it from two years ago.
