This bug appears in several places :
1) the general tab in the preferences dialog is to long for standard netbook
screens with 1024*600 pixels.
2) The minimum window size of the email and agenda view is some pixels too
large.
The result is that the window manager tries to adapt the window

I am experiencing this with a fresh install of 32-but Lucid on a new
laptop, probably one time in two when booted from cold. The
NetworkManager button (which is leftmost of the group on the right) is
corrupted with the graphic of the adjacent power meter and fails to
function; the Shutdown button
On more digging it smells like this bug might be a duplicate of

You can't mark this bug as incomplete because someone can't get a
stack trace from a system which is frozen. Also, strace doesn't generate
stack traces. It generates system call traces, and any intelligent
developer can tell you that everything's hung in read().

I have uninstalled Brasero and installed Brasero that you suggest but the
problem persist..
I hope an official update. I think the problem is with cdrdao. Version 1.2.2
for Brasero is old.

A couple of my family members liked the timer for the same reason Hellenion
mentioned.

Another workaround is to get mytether at mytether.net. It doesn't
suffer from the same problem and the installer works in Linux even
though it doesn't say it does! You need to install the Palm SDK and the
System.Windows.Forms support for Mono. (libmono-winforms2.0-cil)
