I tried the solution 'vanchuck' provided, but the libavcodec52 package
wasn't installed on my system. So I tried 'Sergey K' his solution and
this worked out (although I didn't installed some of the packages, but
better safe than sorry). Now totem did find and installed the plugin.
What I did was:

I have a dual monitor setup for a docked Dell latitude D630 which
experiences frequent X freezes. 95% of the time my mouse input still
works, i cannot type anywhere in X however I can ctrl alt f1 into a
console and restart gdm. The other 5% of the time it is a full freeze
and requires power off
I am also having trouble mounting DVD's burned in Vista with LiveFS,
both in Karmic and in Lucid. So I am marking this bug as confirmed
instead of fix released.
I think the importance should be increased as well, since Ubuntu just
should be able to read DVD's burned in Vista.

I have the same problem in Lucid. After printing, the icon becomes
transparent and remains visible. Hiding doesn't work.

same error on 4965AGN. I think its 11n problem. I disabled n network by adding:
options iwlagn 11n_disable=1
into any .conf file in /etc/modprobe.d and it works. But its not a fix only a
workaround.

I have the same issue. Boot frequently hangs with blinking cursor top
left. Can only power down and retry. Happens about 50% of the time. Rest
of the time get plymouth main process terminated etc. as described in
previous posting.
