I can't open PDF in Inkscape 0.47. And I remove 0.48 version, so I can't
answer the second question.
I installed the libpoppler-dev and libpoppler-glib-dev dependencies as
explained in the #600793 bug. I guess I have to compile and retry after

What is happening here is that as Firefox is starting, something
initializes nsIOService before libdbusservice.so has registered
nsNetworkManagerListener. Because there is no compreg.dat at this state,
nothing provides NS_NETWORK_LINK_SERVICE_CONTRACTID at the point that
this code section is

Hmm, could be something's fixed then. This just came back to mind for me
yesterday as I picked up my linux netbook that I haven't used for a few months.
The settings are correctly stored for me at the moment. I'll keep an eye on
it as I use this for the next week or two and confirm
