I am having the same problem--I have lost cc1 somehow and cannot get it
back:
$ cpp

I have tried using apt-get, aptitude, and symaptic package manager to

For now, the workaround is to "Pin" (Lock Version") to Avidemux 2.4.4.
Note that there are issues with Pinning and "Fix Broken Packages" (as found in
Recovery menu) as noted here:

This also had an additional problem, that I will add here, in that this
"Fix Broken " (as I said, which also "upgrades") also ignores any
"Pinned" packages.
I have Avidemux 2.4.4 Pinned in Synaptic to not upgrade, but this tool
(in recovery menu) ignores that and automatically assigns the upgrade
Since Maverick is almost ready, wouldn't this be a good time to see if
his can be addressed? :)

My live system froze after reporting the 'mdadm not found' error. This
happened twice. The first time, it happened before I was able to read
the error message. The second time, it froze as I was scrolling the
error message in to view. This issue deserves some attention.
