On the 10.10 64 bit VM I removed the remnants under /etc/init.d/nfs*. I
then rebooted it and ran shares-admin. This time when I clicked
"Install services" I was prompted for my password.
On a newly installed 10.10 32 bit physical machine with all current

I just tried setting up a fresh lucid VM, installing snmpd and munin-
node, and running this:

Geoffrey, you're right. I did some more tests and it appears as though
it was italics in the link name that was causing the problem. The
italics got removed when I renamed the note. I hope that helps and I

Update: the freeze has nothing to do with the message. It's due to C1E being
enabled in the BIOS on an AMD Athlon II X2 based system. Disabling this
stopped the freeze issue. Gory details here:
