On the contact list its pretty obvious to find out what protocol a
person uses. When chatting with somebody (especially metacontancts that
have diffrent protocols) you sometimes want to know which protocol is
used but its not really easy to find
I tried booting without quiet/splash, nothing obvious is forthcoming,
the boot just seems very slow in general. If you wait long enough the
machine does get to gdm, but I have not as yet been able to get logged
in to confirm. It seems that the keyboard and mouse are not yet
recognised in X.

continuous space option did add value to ubiquity, and any loss of
usability is a bug.
OTOH adding the options to use entire disc/partition to the side-by-side

Aha. A corrupted splash screen points to a plymouth bug potentially.
Not an uncommon issue at all, and plymouth is no stranger to race
conditions. Let's see if we can isolate it to that.
Try booting with 'splash' removed from the kernel command line in grub.

Thanks for your answers. I have tried with rc 7 and the ene cards drivers are
also working perfectly.
But the wifi does not work. Even with a lan connection to internet and
updating, i get errors messages.
I think that the best way is to upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 and then install
Confirmed workaround: adding intel_idle.max_cstate=0 to kernel boot
parameters works for me (N210 Plus) with latest Maverick Kernel
(2.6.35-24-generic).

After watching the temperature I can say that I havn't experienced a sudden
shutdown below 100°C, but my CPU is getting hot very soon.
But I can't say what is with the sudo hwinfo --framebuffer thing, as I wrote
in #21, I didn't check it again, can somebody else check this pleas if it
happens

bandwidth used with many peers.

But the fact is that this method had never worked.
Grep for pidgin in this thread. That method works. In fact, it's the
only one that does. That's why this bug exists and people are annoyed;
the default IM client used to work (Pidgin), now it doesn't (Empathy).

Robert, If Mathijs patch removes the fictitious clock and keeps the 24hr
label then that would probably be ideal. I could definitely see a desire
to remove a 24hr analog clock. This is probably the more correct
behavior.

After recent updates (23rd December 2010), the gdm login screen appears as
normal, but then the dialog box that you would normally choose to login with
(usernames and password entry) flashes white, and nothing can be done.
