I did some digging on the issue, and I found out, that in Lucid the
touchpad is recognized as PS/2 mouse. According to
alberto: no, fpit should've been removed from the archive instead, it's
gone from debian as well, and not maintained upstream.

I think it is quite a big inconsistency for unity.. most users won't understand
why some (native) applications that ship directly with ubuntu have the menus

I'm not sure when or what fixed this, but as of now on eglibc_2.13-0ubuntu1
this test passes fine.
Tested on a Panda board with the Linaro 2.6.37-1002-linaro-omap kernel gcc
version 4.5.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-3ubuntu2)
(It might be reasonable to test this with an Ubuntu kernel)
