I also found that if I right-click on the panel, choose properties,
check the box show hide buttons and then uncheck show hide buttons
again, that I can rearrange my panel. It's annoying to have to do this

This affects me as well. I have to close all LibreOffice windows in
order to regain normal unity behaviour. However, this does not happen
every time.

* rm -rf /etc/ati
* Install fglrx again

The bug still happens from time to time but does not to be related to
external mouse USB plugging. A lighter work-around is reloading the
appletouch kernel module :
sudo rmmod appletouch
sudo modprobe appletouch

I hope you guys are aware of bug #775124 - after changing the minimum
space requirement, everyone who uses Ubuntu on a 4 gb SSD can no longer
install it. As someone who's done that for the past year or two,
successfully, I can say that it's a shame that the UI prevents this now.

sudo apt-get build-dep unity
apt-get source unity
$EDITOR unity-*/src/PanelTray.cpp
find PanelTray::Draw in there and replace GetGeometry() with
GetAbsoluteGeometry()
debuild -i
sudo dpkg -i
