Well, adding that into the file ~/.pulse/daemon.conf (that in fact

All the workarounds proposed here haven't worked for me.
I have had to revert to the nv driver to have a usable system.
I tried to downgrade xorg and the binary driver but my system still freeze.
I tried (with the current xorg) all the binaries driver from nvidia (270, 275
and the beta 280) and

I have a custom build usb audio device from hotaudio.com, it works
nicely when freshly booted, but when left silent (no playback), it stops
working after some time. It does not matter if the sound was used or
not. This is resolved by reboot. Unplugging and plugging the device
I have not observed this issue when the sound is playing. The output
disappears and the sound system(?) gets screwed up after leaving it
silent for some time.

nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in
Hi Giuseppe,
Tested on both my R850s, one Intel and one ATI/AMD, both work perfectly
with the trick you suggested, card gets recognized and mounted without
problems.
This works even on a stock 2.6.38-8 Natty kernel.
