It appears that there is no way to automatically add contacts to the
Ubuntu One Address Book which is a regression from Evolution. While TB
is great for reading in and using U1 contacts, if we can't get contacts
out of our messages into U1 it defeats the purpose.

Redirecting to ifupdown package. upstart really isn't involved here, as
the script that responds to udev events, /etc/init/network-
interface.conf, is part of ifupdown. The way these would normally be
brought up is by /etc/init/networking.conf which will bring up any
interfaces not already up
Also I was recently shown an alternative way to add addresses to
interfaces which may become the recommended way:

Latitude D620 with Intel integrated 950 graphics. After the screen
blanks after inactivity, pressing the Fn-Brightness up key makes the
brightness go up, but in a staggered way instead of one step at a
time.
