Yes there is a work-around. Boot the live CD, choose "Try Ubuntu", and

Although I'm not a programmer I did a little research on the bug.
The software-center uses the python module webbrowser to open the url
which should always open the correct browser, but in my system it open
Chromium instead of Firefox.

I have the same problem with a Quadro FX 5500. It has 1GB of dedicated
memory but Linux only uses 256MB. Is there any workaround for this bug?
I really need to use some video intensive (2D and 3D) operations using
my computer and I just switched from Windows to Linux to find out this.

I just cleaned everything up and tried again using your steps above (for
installing the multiverse package) and everything seems to be working
now.
I'm quite certain I did previously first remove the installed ec2 tools
and then apt-get update and reinstall, so I'm not sure what went wrong

Don't feel that this is a duplicate, cause yesterday 06.03.12 compiz runs well.
Today got 12mb of updates with a compiz pacakage, now the login goes into a
black screen with movable pointer. That the compiz
