As I mentioned above this bug is easily reproduced on clean daily build of
pangolin. I attempted to run suggested commands aganst it, but gotten nowhere.
So never mind my poluted Kubuntu, you can successfully reproduce this bug on
standard ubuntu 12.04 pre-release.

The problem persists. I have added this line myself in my attempts to solve the
problem, but forgot to remove it when it didn't help. I have also tried opening
alsamixer and unmuted everything that I could unmute. This didn't help either.

Bah, I guess it's related to fixing bug #871907 where I set
background=dark for vim by default and set background=light for gvim (to
undo it). Will have to check if there is a better way to do it.

Bug present in 2012.1.15AR.1-1ubuntu1. Torrent eats the whole core of my CPU.
Attached the strace for driver. The only thing that, I guess, triggered high
load was the file decompression in windows system. Some error were fixed by
chkdisk as well.

still getting GPU has fallen off the bus errors even with 295.20 (from
x-updates). same if I force the driver to 280.13 (from official repos).
I'm using Gnome Shell, and I experience it most often when I have
intensive OpenGL apps running (Trine 1 2 running under WINE, Marble
Arena 2 running
Some problem with the intel iwl4965 driver. It occured with one of the last
updates.
Disabling N with sudo modprobe iwl4965 11n_disable=1 solves the problem.
I don't even have an N-capable router.

I also just tested it in Ubuntu 12.04 (all updates installed) and it
