Note that it's not really blocked by unity-greeter or lightdm; the issue
is the video stack being able to a) reliably switch between VTs and b)

@pitti, yes, the keyboard issue is listed in the problems
I suppose fix would be released soon in updates. Guys only reported that it's
implemented and commited to trunk.
This is not patch, so we need to wait updates in distro. However, some detailed
comments from the developers will not be superfluous.

The latest compiz update today disabled my unity plugin again, but at
least left me with a working desktop, so I could just call ccsm and
enable it again. I also got a load of "system problem detected" messages
afterwards, but nothing seems really broken right now.

I was able to get vloopback working in Oneiric. I basically forced some
defines and changed the videodev include to make it compile.
First, install the libv4l-div package. Then you will need to include
libv4l1-videodev.h instead of linux/videodev.h (you will not see this in

no longer opens a terminal, my maximization shortcuts no longer work,
navigation shortcuts don't work.
The problem seems that gnome-shell 3.4 has switched to gsettings/dconf
for its keyboard shortcuts bu
this may be related to a problem I am having with an i3 based laptop and
an external monitor. If I try to change the external monitor to
1900x1200, the system freezes and needs a power down to regain control.
lspci sees the intel video ("VGA compatible controller: Intel
Corporation Core Processor I
It's a related issue. The fact that this is missing from the kernel
module triggers a crash in nm-applet. We've fixed this since it's
obviously better to avoid crashing for no reason :)

A short term hack seems to be to change the location of the resolv.conf
pointed to in the daemon script, /etc/init.d/dnsmasq.
I changed it to point to /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/original instead
of /var/run/dnsmasq/resolv.conf and that seems to have worked around the
problem.

laptop suspend/hibernate feature. Just create and edit the file
/etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd and paste in thsi content:
