Fresh, standard install of Ubuntu 12.04. Nothing encrypted. The system
was both installed and updated today.
I enter a password and it says Logging in. It then stays like that.
You can use the up and down arrow keys which seems to interrupt the
login process, but also prevents you from typing

VPCF120FL, that uses Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6200,
wireless card.
To reproduce, one just have to follow the steps mentioned in comment #3:

Okay. After I figured out, that the problem has something to do with the
configuration files stored in my home folder (as the lens worked in the
guest session!), I deleted the /home/user/.config/dconf/ folder.

I did a bit more digging around. I had a look at the greeter log file.
I have attached the greeter log file with this comment.

I noticed these lines:

this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #987096, so is being marked as such.
I also have this bug and it happens when switching windows via mouse
click, Alt-Tab, or any of the various Launcher methods. I also have a
Nvidia graphics card 8400GS. I have no idea where to begins figuring out
which package is causing whindows to go white when brought into or out

Nvidia 295.20 seems to work a lot better than 295.40.
Xubuntu 12.04 AMD 32-bit GEForce 6150SE
If you go to Settings Manager - Screensaver and choose Blocktube, you
see it moves quickly and smoothly in 295.20. In 295.40 it is jumpy and
changes about once per second.
