2012-05-16 Thread Redmar
Public bug reported:

Looks like installing lordofultima hosed the dependencies, I keep
getting errors that I need to fix broken packages to install
lordofultima, and then that fixing broken packages failed, and that
keeps looping. Also I cannot remove lordofultima since it has not been
properly installed.

[Bug 999187] Re: lxc-create for armhf fails with error failed to execute template 'ubuntu'

2012-05-16 Thread James Hunt
Hi Serge - yes, this was on a precise host.

Confirmed that lxc 0.7.5-3ubuntu56 from precise-proposed/universe now
allows me to create, start and stop an armhf container.

Thanks for the quick turn-around!

[Bug 921547] Re: Segmentation fault in libkrb5.so.25

2012-05-16 Thread Jan J
This problem was produced on a 64-bit machine in an ESX cluster that we
no longer trust for 64-bit. We had all sorts of segfaults so we moved to
our new clusters.

[Bug 970679] Re: winbind coredumps when encountering a group with over 1000 members

2012-05-16 Thread James Page
** Description changed:

+ Impact:
+ winbind coredumps when encountering a group with more that 1000 members -
this renders winbind unusable in deployments with 1000 users.
+
+ Development Fix:
+ Cherry picked patch from upstream VCS - this fix should be included in 3.6.6.
+
+ Stable Fix:
+
+ Test Case:
+ TBC - may need to be smoke tested by users reporting this issue.
+
+ Regression Potential:
+ Minimal - patch has been committed upstream and should be released in Samba
3.6.6.
+
+ Original Bug Report:
+
  Samba 3.6.3 precise

winbind works as expected with groups with 1000 members, core dumps
when encountering groups with 1000 members.

e.g. getent group groupWithLessThan1000Members returns expected results

getent group groupWithMoreThan1000Members hangs at CLI whilst winbind
coredumps in the background and eventually returns nothing, however this
  can be found in syslog

2012-05-16 Thread James Page
** Description changed:

  Impact:
winbind coredumps when encountering a group with more that 1000 members -
this renders winbind unusable in deployments with 1000 users in a single
group.

  Development Fix:
Cherry picked patch from upstream VCS - this fix should be included in 3.6.6.
+ Fix ensures that hunks of 1000 entries processed in winbind line up with
talloc memory handling preventing the crash.

  Stable Fix:
+ Cherry picked patch from upstream VCS - see comments in Development fix.

  Test Case:
+ NOTE - hard to reproduce as requires deployment with large number of
users/groups.
Configure winbind to communicate with a Domain Controller with more that 1000
users
  getent group groupWithLessThan1000Members - OK
getent group groupWithMoreThan1000Members - HANGS (coredumps recorded in

[Bug 999764] Re: [SRU] no ufw profile or apport hook is included in the 12.04 packages

2012-05-16 Thread James Page
** Description changed:

+ Impact:
+ Bugs reported in Ubuntu have limited apport information compared to previous
releases.
+ UFW profile is missing - regression from previous release.
+
+ Development Fix:
+ Restore missing lines from install files in packaging.
+
+ Stable Fix:
+ Restore missing lines from install files in packaging.
+
+ Test Case:
+ sudo apt-get install samba
+ /etc/ufw/applications.d/samba and
/usr/share/apport/package-hooks/source_samba.py are missing.
+
+ Regression Potential:
+ Minimal - these files are missing from the release version in 12.04 and don't
really impact outside of ufw or apport.
+
+ Original Bug Report:
+
The samba packages in 11.10 ship both a ufw profile and an apport hook:

-samba: /etc/ufw/applications.d/samba
-samba-common-bin: /usr/share/apport/package-hooks/source_samba.py
+    samba: /etc/ufw/applications.d/samba
+    samba-common-bin: /usr/share/apport/package-hooks/source_samba.py

Neither of these is included in the 12.04 packages - looks like they got
dropped from the .install files during merging.

[Bug 1000219] [NEW] cobbler does not recognise 12.04 server iso

2012-05-16 Thread Pierre Amadio
Public bug reported:

I installed cobbler on a kvm vm and wish to use it to deploy vm.

I try to deploy a ubuntu-12.04-server-amd64.iso system that i have
imported in cobbler:

mkdir /home/ubuntu/iso
sudo mount -t iso9660 -o loop /home/ubuntu/ubuntu-12.04-server-amd64.iso
/home/ubuntu/iso
sudo cobbler import --path=/home/ubuntu/iso/ --name=precise
sudo cobbler sync

I know the iso is ok because i used it to install the cobbler system
itself.

Now, when i deploy a system with cobbler, it stop when trying to access
a mirror.

/var/log/syslog of the failing system tells something like:

choose-mirror[3474] DEBUG command: wget -q
http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu//dists/precise/Release -O - | grep -E
'^(Suite|Codename):'
choose-mirror[3474] WARNING **: broken mirror: invalid Suite or Codename in
Release file for $suite

Now, from the hypervisor, a tcpdump show that the vm was able to access
http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu//dists/precise/Release

##
GET /ubuntu//dists/precise/Release HTTP/1.1
Host: gb.archive.ubuntu.com
User-Agent: Wget
Connection: close

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
...
...
###

I can also wget it by hand on a console on the machine being installed,
and the file i get actually contains lines such as:

Suite: precise
Codename: precise

Things works ok if I import an iso with cobbler-ubuntu-import precise-
amd64 though.

[Bug 356022] Re: unable to mount or browse samba networks

2012-05-16 Thread mlaverdiere
Like mentioned earlier, it seems that the failed to retrieve shares
list from server problem may me related to the lack of samba package on
an out of the box Ubuntu installation. Having the samba package
installed appears to fix the problem or, at least, in more complex
situation, be one of the steps involved in fixing it. See the default
package listing fro 12.04 where there is no samba package, while other
related samba package are present:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/natty/ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.manifest

** Package changed: gvfs (Ubuntu) = samba (Ubuntu)

[Bug 972845] Re: after upgrade to precise, service did not start

2012-05-16 Thread Nikolay Shopik
Actuall problem is tftpd-hpa trying start before any interface have IP address,
so if you look closely at syslog you will find such messages. cannot resolve
local IPv4 bind address: 0.0.0.0, Name or service not known.
So only workaround so far is change /etc/init/tftpd-hpa.conf to add sleep 10
before it start, but for me this breake upstart script somewhat thus it hang
durring shutdown.

Nikolay has spotted the problem, same here...
terra in.tftpd[1397]: cannot resolve local IPv4 bind address: 0.0.0.0, Name or

I though upstart was supposed to have a dependencies system that
prevents things like this.

[Bug 1000174] Re: package lxc 0.7.5-3ubuntu54 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-05-16 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug. Interesting - so installing mdadm
stopped lxc from starting? I can't reproduce that here, unfortunately.

Do you have autostart containers defined? (what does ls -l
/etc/lxc/auto show?)

Can you add the line:

console output

right underneath the 'stop on' lines in both /etc/init/lxc.conf and
/etc/init/lxc-net.conf, then do

stop lxc
start lxc

and show the output here?

[Blueprint servercloud-q-maas-next-steps] MAAS Next Steps

2012-05-16 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Blueprint changed by Andres Rodriguez:

Whiteboard set to:
UDS Session Notes:

ARM Support
Support for different ARM flavours is complex
But a lot is shared with the desktop images, if not all
Sub-architecture support should be out of the scope
Minimum requirement is being able to netboot with pxelinux U-Boot emulation and

[Bug 1000355] [NEW] drbd fence-peer breaks when using kernel 2.6.32-41

2012-05-16 Thread Jacob Smith
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid with 2.6.32-41 kernel and drbd8

Kernel 2.6.32-41 fixed a consistency issue around UMH_WAIT_PROC in this
bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/963685

This causes the drbd fencing script's exit codes to be incorrectly
interpreted which then breaks the drbd fencing:

To replicate:

Have fencing enabled in drbd config:
In handlers section: fence-peer /usr/lib/drbd/crm-fence-peer.sh
In the disk section:  fencing resource-only;

Have both drbd nodes uptodate with one primary one secondary
Make the fence-peer get executed. I did this by:
Having drbd under pacemaker control. Both pacemaker nodes were online and
in-sync. Drbd in primary on node 1. Put node 1 in standby. Fence-peer will get
executed.
Fence handler will report fence-peer exited with 0 (broken) - such as this:

May 15 09:45:17 kernel: [56645.420714] block drbd0: helper command:
/sbin/drbdadm fence-peer minor-0
May 15 09:45:17 kernel: [56645.420920] block drbd0: helper command:
/sbin/drbdadm fence-peer minor-0 exit code 0 (0x0)
May 15 09:45:17 kernel: [56645.420925] block drbd0: fence-peer helper broken,
returned 0

If you log debug output of fence-peer script (crm-fence-peer.sh) when
executed it exits 4 not the kernel reported 0.

This commit in drbd git should fix this behavior:

http://git.drbd.org/gitweb.cgi?p=drbd-8.3.git;a=commitdiff;h=e6cbc43

This will cause complete failure of a drbd setup using fencing to auto-recover
or continue without manual intervention and repair.

[Bug 1000308] [NEW] php function cal_days_month does not exist after upgrade to precise

2012-05-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

after upgrade to precise I receive the message: function
cal_days_in_month is not defined

I use php via zend server community edition so I am not sure if this is
a zend server or php bug

In phpinfo I do not see anything about calendar support (but I do not
know if I should if it is compiled in)

My guess: php has been compiled without calendar support in the zend
server package.

also, before installing mdadm, I did let a bunch of updates install, and
I think it may have complained then as well, but I had to get some work
done, and everything else seemed ok. Then when I needed mdadm to test
an external raid box, this is when I had time to investigate further.
sorry I don't have any further info on when the problem may have first
occurred.

Simply running lockfile-create, killing it quickly, and re-running it in

juju charm to use to reproduce this? Can you still reproduce this

Re: [Bug 1000174] Re: package lxc 0.7.5-3ubuntu54 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-05-16 Thread Serge Hallyn
Sorry, these should have been

sudo lxc stop
sudo lxc start

If you still care to debug and provide that output, that would be great.
But if you aren't using lxc anyway, and simply wish to remove it, you
can do:

sudo apt-get purge lxc

You can also leave lxc installed, but stop it from starting its own
network by setting USE_LXC_BRIDGE=false in /etc/default/lxc.

If you remove lxc, please let us know so we can update the bug
status accordingly.

thanks,

Unfortunately unable to collect such log files due to the nature of the
bug and changes since to bring systems back to working order.

I might have further info I could give - if there are specific questions

[Bug 1000355] Re: drbd fence-peer breaks when using kernel 2.6.32-41

2012-05-16 Thread Jacob Smith
** Description changed:

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid with 2.6.32-41 kernel and drbd8

Kernel 2.6.32-41 fixed a consistency issue around UMH_WAIT_PROC in this
  bug:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/963685

This causes the drbd fencing script's exit codes to be incorrectly
interpreted which then breaks the drbd fencing:
+
+ This also affects linux source in all distributions after Lucid
+ with the applicable kernel versions patched in bug 963685 above since
+ the drbd kernel module is mainlined in those more recent kernel versions
+

  To replicate:

Have fencing enabled in drbd config:
  In handlers section: fence-peer /usr/lib/drbd/crm-fence-peer.sh
  In the disk section:  fencing resource-only;

-
This commit in drbd git should fix this behavior:

  http://git.drbd.org/gitweb.cgi?p=drbd-8.3.git;a=commitdiff;h=e6cbc43

-
- This will cause complete failure of a drbd setup using fencing to
auto-recover or continue without manual intervention and repair.
+ This will cause complete failure of a drbd setup using fencing to auto-
+ recover or continue without manual intervention and repair.

[Bug 1000175] Re: Unable to copy id to a server that is listening on non-default port

2012-05-16 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this issue. I've marked it confirmed, and wishlist
priority as it is not a bug in expected operation, but a feature
request.

The actual ssh-copy-id script is pretty simple, so please feel free to
provide a patch to add a -P port option, which I suspect would be
readily accepted.

at some point when I have time, I do want to investigate using lxc instead
of/in addition to Virtualbox for our servers. currently this is just on a
spare development laptop, so if some other dev tool is conflicting, no big
deal, but I will have mdadm on the server, though I'm pretty sure the lxc
problem started before installing mdadm. I don't recall messing with any of
the config files when lxc was first installed, but my memory ain't what it
used to be. I have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling lxc to see if
that fixes anything. Let me know if there is anything else you want me to
try.
