On the available evidence that this bug is caused by resolvconf reload squid
too soon, I attach a work-around patch.
It delays any resolvconf reload by 30 seconds if it occurs within 200 seconds
of boot.
Those numbers might well need tuning on other systems, but the patch has solved
the issue

Hello,
I have had the same problem, with the same error output as above. I had
a fresh install of 12.04 server, updated once and nothing else extra
installed. I applied the -ex modification and the patch described,
continued the installation, reconfigured the packages and now it seems
to work;
I can imagine that it will take a lot of care to avoid introducing races
inside dnsmasq. Have I mentioned yet that Simon is a hero?
Do we have to worry about races outside of dnsmasq? Suppose someone was
running dnsmasq in unbound mode and has now switched to the new improved
dnsmasq in
Meanwhile my laptop has been working fine with two dnsmasq instances
running in cascade. I'll try to subject this arrangement to more severe
tests in the coming weeks.

Just checked pdnsd. I thought it would be affected since it also starts
in server_ip=any mode by default; however the Debian package which is
also in Universe includes server_ip=127.0.0.1 in /etc/pdnsd.conf. It
therefore starts alongside nm-dnsmasq modified to listen on 127.0.0.2.

@Bert: Can you provide more information about the conflict with djbdns?
The dnscache-run package, one of the binary packages built from djbdns
source, is marked as Conflicting with resolvconf because it messes
directly with /etc/resolv.conf --- see Debian bug report #582755. Its
maintainers
Next checked PowerDNS Recursor. The Debian package pdns-recursor is
also available in Universe. Its default configuration is to listen only
on 127.0.0.1:53 so it will also no longer conflict with nm-dnsmasq if
the latter is moved to 127.0.0.2.

Sorry, but not working here. If you play with it a little you can check
this out: when you turn on wifi via hardware the wifi is ok but not
bluetooth; then you open bluetooth settings and it turns on, but then if
you turn off everything goes down.
Also, if you turn on wifi via hardware switch,
I'm pretty sure this isn't a bug. In some configurations, klondike
solitaire has only a limited number of redeals.

squid3 gets killed at startup with dnsmasq and no networkmanager

I'm not sure what is the supposed behavior of it under subsequent calls
of hard blocking and soft blocking, but i seems a little inconsistent.
When you soft block it, you have to unlock it via hardware, that doesn't
seem to be the wanted behavior.
Is there any log or information I can provide for

there is a bug in autopkgtest. The control file does not specify no-
build-needed, so autopkgtest needs to build the package first, and
hence install its build dependencies. The recent change of adding --no-
built-binaries seems

Is there a fix for this for ordinary 12.04 users?
I can see that Darren Watt solved it by installing a custom kernel
(3.4?)... is there any less drastic (I'd like to get automatic security
updates etc.) method?

I upgraded to release 12.04. when i connect my secondry LCD screen with the
laptop it display the defult 1200 x 800 resolutions.
although the screen supoort 1366 x 766 size.
I tried the same lcd with ubuntu version 10.04 and works perfect.
