[Bug 1019155] [NEW] internal microphone not working in Lenovo G470
Public bug reported: Dear Sir, If this bug has been reported, I am sorry as I do not know how to confirm that. The following is all the information about my Lenovo G470 that I can hopefully get. I am a non-IT person, and I need some help with my built-in microphone which is not functioning. Frankly, I have searched and to no avail. I can see the VU band moving in my Pulse Audio Volume Control, when I tried to use the mic, but after recording, there is no sound reproduced; I have tried the inverted mic work about, to no avail. I have use VLC, Banshee and other players. My speakers should be okay because I can listen to online radio and I can hear my friend's Skype but cannot use my mic. [Bug 989588] Re: update-manager popup is shown on launcher and alt-tab list but window doesn't show up
I don't have careful data. But running Quantal, I don't recall seeing this in a while. [Bug 933292] Re: annoying window snapping to sides of screen in Unity
Yes the bug is reproducible. I actually started using Kubuntu due to many of the Unity issues, but from what I remember certain times when you are dragging a window and you near the top panel it would "snap to" the top or to a side as it gets near. Also, from what I remember, if a window is partially off the screen and you drag it back onto the screen, once the edge that was furthest off the screen reaches the screen border it abruptly snaps to the side of the window, causing the windows dragging to loose it's fluidity. The worst thing I can remember though, is that once a window does it's automatic "snap to side" option, it will not nicely disconnect from the side, but rather will stay motionless for a split second and then jerk to the new position in a very unfluid manner. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933292 Title: annoying window snapping to sides of screen in Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/933292/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1013334] Re: slice indices must be integers or None or have an __index__ method
I tried this on the 20120627 i386 and amd64 Ubuntu live system (I think that's exactly the same image as you did), in kvm. First right after booting into the live desktop, and a second time after "sudo apt-get update". I also tried it on my workstation (current Quantal amd64). In each of those I ran "ubuntu-bug casper", and clicked Send; I got the upload progress dialog, and was sent to Firefox. In no case did I get that error message. By the looks of your screenshot you are also using some virtual machine like KVM, or using Ethernet? So I'm puzzled now what could be different. The main thing that comes to my mind is: Are you using a proxy on your host machine (i. e. not in the live system guest)? I'm afraid I gave you the wrong file for debugging this more closely, sorry about that. Can you please boot the live system again, run these two commands in a terminal: wget http://people.canonical.com/~pitti/tmp/ui.py sudo cp ui.py /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/apport/ and then reproduce the situation again? If you then get an apport crash file in /var/crash/, please attach it. If you see any output from that ubuntu-bug command in the terminal, please copy&paste it here. [Bug 863358] Re: Can't easily use Ubuntu without using Ubuntu Mono
Paul, your questions had already been answered by Cody. But to reiterate, "(b) Being able to select which is used by the operating system" is not relevant to this bug report. The screenshot is not of an operating system component, or even of a Web page that asks for "monospace"; it is of a Web page that suggests fonts by name. I have no opinion on whether weights should be packaged separately. All that is necessary to fix *this* bug is to package Ubuntu and Ubuntu Mono separately. There are other possible solutions (like implementing a font browser that lets you blacklist installed fonts), but as I suggested originally, packaging would be the simplest. ** Changed in: ubuntu-font-family Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/863358 Title: Can't easily use Ubuntu without using Ubuntu Mono To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+bug/863358/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1017972] Re: [MIR] google-perftools, libunwind
** Description changed: [Overall Rationale] Required to support full functional/performant ceph package. This is important from a performance perspective for ceph. http://gperftools.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/doc/tcmalloc.html [Security] No CVE's found. [Quality assurance] Package has test suite but currently not enabled: BLOCKED Blocked by http://code.google.com/p/gperftools/issues/detail?id=428&q=heap-checker_unittest - issues with libc6 2.15 compatibility. [Dependencies] Other than libunwind (on this MIR): Runtime dependency on gv for google-perftools - this can probably be dropped to Suggests (currently recommends). [Standards compliance] Package build is CDBS rather than debhelper but looks OK. Two lintian warnings and a few informational messages - nothing significant. [Maintenance] No outstanding bugs in Debian and looks to be well maintained. Current issue in Lucid - its not installable - but not relevant for 12.10 MIR. [Bug 1019172] [NEW] Clumsy Finnish localization of post-install failure message
Public bug reported: Quoting bug #976781 correspondence: >> aliprosessi installed post-installation script palautti virhetilakoodin 255 > apologies for the really stupid half-translated error message you got. I'm not sure what should be done about this. A more fluent translation would be something like "aliprosessin asentama asennuksen viimeistelyskripti" (off the top of my head) but if "post-installation script" is not a translatable string (haven't checked) it may require changes to the source. Dependency on google-perftools was dropped during 12.04 cycle to support late MIR; it would be good to re-enable these features for 12.10. >> google-perftools - http://code.google.com/p/gperftools << [Availability] In universe since hardy (maybe before) [Rationale] Provides tcmalloc - a high performance implementation of malloc for multi-threaded environments. Upstream primary maintainer has just changed - Feb 2012 [Background information] Quote "Perftools is a collection of a high-performance multi-threaded malloc() implementation, plus some pretty nifty performance analysis tools." Renamed upstream to gperftools. >> libunwind - http://www.nongnu.org/libunwind/ << [Availability] In universe since hardy - Currently does not target armhf [Rationale] - Dependency for google-perftools; required for ceph. + Dependency for google-perftools on amd64 only; required for ceph. [Security] No CVE's found. [Quality assurance] - Test suite is currently not enabled and has test failures. + Test suite is currently not enabled and has test failures - this needs to be reported upstream: TODO [Dependencies] All in main. [Standards compliance] Pre-debhelper 7 style, but relatively simple - looks OK. [Maintenance] - Maintained in Debian (no outstanding bugs); FTBFS on some platforms so not brilliant. + Maintained in Debian (no outstanding bugs). [Background information] Only used in amd64 build - need to investigate why. ** Changed in: libunwind (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New ** Changed in: libunwind (Ubuntu) Assignee: James Page (james-page) => (unassigned) ** Changed in: google-perftools (Ubuntu) Assignee: James Page (james-page) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1017972 Title: [MIR] google-perftools, libunwind To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-perftools/+bug/1017972/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 995959] Re: Too many to list - installing upgrade, received approximately 40 alerts.
Please indicate the nature of the problematic messages. Unfortunately, with this lack of detail, your report cannot really be processed as it is. If you still have the system where you filed this bug up and running, you might be able to help out by attaching a copy of the file /var/log/dpkg/term.log. If you can view this file (this might require sudo privileges) and spot the offending messages, perhaps you could also copy/paste a few of them. I am setting the Status of this bug report to Incomplete to mark it as pending on further input from you. Once you have supplied the requested information, it can be changed back to New (or, optimistically, to Confirmed, if the additional information makes it clear that the problem is real and repeatable). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and for helping us make Ubuntu better. ** Changed in: dpkg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995959 Title: Too many to list - installing upgrade, received approximately 40 alerts. [Bug 855473]
Thanks to the feedback on the Forum, I have been able to reduce this down to the exact use case where this occurs. 1) A folder must be viewed, then left. 2) A change to files in that folder must take place 3) The folder must be returned to >From step 3 onward, no further changes will be picked up for that folder at least. This is frustrating. I imagine even more so for users who don't know to manually refresh their filemanager and nor should they be required to. this only happens if the dolphin tab folder is in view .. if I i'm in another folder tab and save to a different directory and switch over to that directory it's there without any manual refresh necessary. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde4libs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/855473 Title: File list not updated in dolphin To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdelibs/+bug/855473/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 966744] Re: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor)
Hello, I was affected by the a similar bug on a dell XPS M1330 since the upgrade to 12.04 (with nvidia graphics and nouveau drivers). In particular closing the lid with "Do nothing" "when lid is closed" in the power settings was always leaving me with a unusable desktop session after opening the lid (i.e. only the mouse pointer was moving). I did a sequence of things that solved the problem for me: first I resumed my session a couple of times using the commands described on post #41, then in the power settings I first selected "Suspend" as action when lid is closed, then I put back "Do nothing". After this the problem disappeared "magically" Sorry for not beiing more precise, but probably it can help somebody else with a similar problem -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966744 Title: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/966744/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
