numeric keypad behaves as if the NUM LOCK is disabled, whether it is or
it isn't. It works fine in other applications and in Flash in Windows

After carefully inspecting this issue this seems to be the expected
behavior.
In normal runlevels "halt" just calls "shutdown -H now", which is supposed to
simply halt the system without poweroff.
Alternatively the "poweroff" variant of the command calls "shutdown -P now",
which actually powers

10-20KBps (80-160Kbps). When I force some activity (USB mouse events) it

When opening some files gedit hangs and consume a lot of RAM memory and
then swap memory. The system became unresponsive. The only solution is
to kill gedit or reboot. Generally this happens with "big files", I do
not know exactly the limit but probably files with more than ~5
My solution:
1. Open a terminal window and type: "gpilotd-control-applet"
2. under "PDAs" -> "Add..." (or "Edit")
3. click on "Get from PDA" and the PDA button: "HocSync".
4. Change the "PDA settings" to:
Owner: "Your Name"
PDA ID: "1000" (not "0"!)
Name of PDA: "MyPDAtx" (new name)

Ubuntu 9.04 is no longer supported. The currently supported versions are
10.04 (server), 11.04, 11.10 and the latest 12.04 LTS. I would recommend
using any flavour of ubuntu 12.04. The later the version, the most
recent the kernel is and the better hardware support gets.

Playing commercial audio CDs worked fine for me in rhythmbox in the
initial release of Ubuntu 12.04 (May 2012).
However sometime between then and 5th Jul 2012, they have stopped
working.
Currently I get either a few seconds of sound and then nothing, or the first

replaced in it's stead. For example here is a feed from my local

In the mean time, if you have a window that has disappeared with changes
to the file, and you need to recover it, select "Quit" from the menu,
then "Cancel" when asked if you want to save changes - this will restore
the window.
