[Bug 1089342] Re: Postfix uses temporary IPv6 address for outbound connections
What we ship now is the upstream default and that is the correct thing to do by default. I think it's a fair point to discuss if, given the increasing availability of IPv6, there should be a debconf question about this. I think it would make sense to add it as a low priority (not normally asked) question so the answer can be pre-seeded. I think the documentation (as usual for postfix) is excellent. When I ran into this problem myself, I was able to solve it using the available documentation. Postfix documentation is not, however, aimed at new postfix users. It would probably make sense to add a discussion about this to the Ubuntu Server Guide. ** Also affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Milestone: None = ubuntu-13.04-beta-1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1089342 Title: Postfix uses temporary IPv6 address for outbound connections To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postfix/+bug/1089342/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 48671] Re: Cannot rename by clicking on a file
@Seb: I'm sorry, actually it was me that revived this discussion with a rather flaming diatribe. Thank you for directing me to the original Nautilus bug - for some reason Google doesn't pick it up, and I really wanted to know what the process was that led to this decision. I find it surprising, because it violates what I think of as generally accepted human interface guidelines (don't require right clicks or keyboard shortcuts, direct manipulation, etc). For me this is a papercut, as I use Windows and Mac OS X regularly and am always surprised when I try to use Nautilus in the same way as I'd use the Finder or Explorer. Of course, on Linux, it's often much faster (though not very user-friendly) to just use the shell to manage files. I know there's some concern that people will rename files accidentally, but on Mac OS, click-to-rename only happens if you click on the filename, not on the icon. This seems like a pretty good compromise as it makes it clear that you're trying to operate on the file name and not the file itself. I've seen this user interface pattern elsewhere too... [Bug 1089966] [NEW] Gedit scrolling jumps to wrong location after re-focusing on window and scrolling mouse wheel slightly
Public bug reported: While Gedit application is open, switch to another application which allows mouse wheel scrolling, such as Chromium web browser, or Firefox, or LibreOffice Writer. Use mouse wheel to scroll up or down in the web browser. Switch back to Gedit and nudge the mouse wheel slightly. The Gedit window seems to be saving all mouse wheel scrolling commands from the mouse wheel while in Chromium and applying them to the Gedit window, causing the scrolling to jump to the wrong location in the document. If I scroll up in Chromium, then switch to Gedit and scroll down in Gedit, it will instead scroll up by the same amount that I scrolled up in Chromium. Gedit ignores the command from the mouse wheel and applies the scroll activity from the previous window instead. This bug does not seem to be affecting other applications which uses mouse scrolling. Chromium, Firefox, and LibreOffice Writer all work fine and do not jump. Only Gedit jumps to the wrong location on returning to the window and nudging the mouse wheel slightly. [Bug 741364] Re: libecryptfs_key_mod_openssl.so does not exist in ecryptfs-utils
Thanks for the reply. Which man page? I don't see that stated in any of the 12.10 man pages. Sorry, I played with this at home (12.10) but I am at an old version (at work) now. :P I just assumed the manual was the same as here. It's too bad there is little to no interest. Ecryptfs is really great technology. I am using it for encrypting mountable OTFE remote backups, and I like to use a simple password at the safe local site, yet have strong key based encryption on the files. Because, as the ecryptfs manual puts it (or used to put it): Cryptographic keys derived from passphrases are generally worthless. It could be that I am using ecryptfs in a silly way, because otherwise, given the popularity of key+password based ssh login to servers for maintenance, one would think that typical devs would actually prefer keys over passwords. Am I missing a trick? Is it possible to use a crazy password and store it in your keyring permanently so the ecryptfs will mount without a password dialog when logged in and keyring opened? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/741364 Title: libecryptfs_key_mod_openssl.so does not exist in ecryptfs-utils To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecryptfs-utils/+bug/741364/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1088295] Re: lxc container can control other container's cpu share, memory limit, or access of block and character devices
It definately has security implications. The apparmor profile is the primary way we protect the host from a guest with the lxc package (which openstack does not use), preventing things like writing to /proc/sysrq- trigger. Nova could move containers into a container apparmor profile itself after starting them... Note that some things will end up not being possible by default - for instance an lxc guest won't be able to install libvirt or lxc because they need to mount cgroups, which is not safe. But the right solution is to implement the libvirt-lxc security operations for apparmor, or to implement the libvirt driver to use lxc from the lxc package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1088295 Title: lxc container can control other container's cpu share, memory limit,or access of block and character devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nova/+bug/1088295/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 48671] Re: Cannot rename by clicking on a file
I also miss this feature, but I agree that the way Windows does it did not make sense: the single-click-wait mechanism is inconsistent. I prefer OSX method of click-and-hold, this also has some analogy with touch-and-hold, and feels more natural. The F2 shourtcut works fine (to rename a file/folder you need to touch the keyboard anyway), but a shortcut mechanism on the touchpad/mouse seems more convenient and easy to remember. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/48671 Title: Cannot rename by clicking on a file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/48671/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1088470] Re: Killing Gnome-Do resets shortcut doesn't let Do launch at startup
** Description changed: On several occasions I was forced to kill some applications including Gnome Do. After I kill relaunch Gnome Do, the assigned shortcut is reset to nothing, but i get the main interface from which I could reassign the shortcut from the preferences menu. This last time, I was not able to get the window to reassign the shortcut! No matter how many times I try, Gnome Do doesn't launch (graphically); it is running in the background. - I haven't tried to reboot the system this time since I've been working - on something do not wish to reboot. + The only way I found to circumvent this launch the interface was to launch two instances from the terminal! + After I set the shorcut I would quit both relaunch it as normal! - How can I access the preferences? + There must be an easier way to access the preferences! Keep a static debian/bcmwl-kernel-source.modaliases instead which matches on any Broadcom network device (vendor 14E4 class 02 subclass 80). This brings back a proper Modaliases: package header. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1089688 Title: cron jobs no longer execute To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1089688/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
