what are the actual benefits of booting UEFI way? Is it faster booting
or what? Maybe the instant-on feature I now expirience on Win8?
So let me get this straigt - the safe way to install would be:
1. Boot win8 in UEFI mode and shrink the disk leaving space for ubuntu
2. Reboot, set the machine
On my good old Dell Inspirion 9300 I use dual boot with Windows XP and
ubuntu 12.04.1. LTS 32 Bit
RAM: 2.0 GiB
Intel Pentium M processor 1.73GHz
Graphic: Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV370
I don't use Chrome, only Firefox.

The problem is that you installed fglrx/Catalyst driver and it no longer
supports your video/GPU.

On my laptop the freeze occures when firefox and/or other programs are
open and the computer is idle or does some long-running task without
user interaction, like a search in FSLint.

Well, while Firefox is running and for example a Facebook tab is open,
even if I opened up that Facebook tab from Dash, It doesn't connect
the dash Facebook button to the Firefox tab. Dash seems to not know that
I've a web app, any one of them, open in a tab in Firefox.
