I have been doing some test with the mainline kernels. I have found that
the backlight works well when using Ubuntu 13.04 amd64 with the last 3.6
based kernel.
It does not work with 3.7, 3.8 or 3.9 based kernels (all from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/)

I'd like to report a regression. Previously the mouse wheel could be
used for changing the volume. Unfortunatelly that doesn't work in the
current version (3.2.3-1ubuntu1) anymore. The same problem has been
