[Bug 1245119] [NEW] Need automatically re-shape partitions

2013-10-26 Thread Guillermo Daniel Müller
Public bug reported:

Same issue with Ubuntu Gnome 13.10, Gnome 3.10 here. Have to try out

[Bug 1231447] Re: Alt+Print Screen only takes picture of the HUD

2013-10-26 Thread Sebastian J. Bronner
I modified the description to replace "launcher" with "HUD", as that is
specifically what is popping up.

** Summary changed:

- Alt+Print Screen only takes picture of launcher
+ Alt+Print Screen only takes picture of the HUD

** Description changed:

In 13.10, pressing "Alt+Print Screen" always takes a screenshot of the
- launcher and not of the active window.
+ HUD and not of the active window.

This was fixed in 13.04, ref. bug number 1072199.

  To replicate:
  1. Start a program such as "gedit".
  2. Press Alt+PrintScreen

- * What happens: gnome-screenshot takes a screenshot of the Launcher (due to
the Dash that gets invoked).
+ * What happens: gnome-screenshot takes a screenshot of the HUD (due to the
Dash that gets invoked).
  * What should happen: gnome-screenshot should take a screenshot of just the
"gedit" window

[Bug 1242672] Re: Time indicator doesn't show in the panel and clock tab in Time & Date is greyed out

2013-10-26 Thread rrich1974
sometimes it is happening to me too, i mean, the time and date applet just does
not start, it does not show at all.
the solution is to restart lightdm "sudo restart lightdm"..sometimes you
need to try several times to show.

2013-10-26 Thread Rolf Leggewie
** Description changed:

Many packages in Ubuntu use the liblcms1 library (source package lcms).
This library is discontinued upstream and replaced by liblcms2. Due to
- this bugs in liblcms1 are not fixed any more upstream and important
+ this, bugs in liblcms1 are not fixed any more upstream and important
improvements in color reproduction and safety against crashes are not

[Bug 1245114] [NEW] laptop hangs on lid close

2013-10-26 Thread S
Public bug reported:

When I close the lid and open it, I get a blinking text mode cursor on
top left, ALT+F1, 2, 3... show the same cursor in all TTYs and the
machine does not respond to my typing. Also, the fan starts spinning at
it highest speed and I need to reboot in order to resume working on the
machine. However, I still can ssh into the machine after the machine
hangs up.

Further this happens in both CLI mode and Graphics mode.
"ForceEnablePipeA" "true" does not make a difference.

[Bug 1017738] Re: NM fails to connect Wi-Fi; dhclient works -- Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 iwlwifi

2013-10-26 Thread jerrylamos
Bug still present on saucy. Ubuntu network manager policy is not user friendly
-
Precise connected fairly quickly after power up to wireless WPA encrypted
network.
Nook connects immediately on power up to wireless WPA encrypted network.
Chromebook connects immediately on power up to wireless WPA encrypted network.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 connects immediately on power up to wireless WPA encrypted
network.

What is the reason Ubuntu network manager changed their policy of
connecting right away like all these other products?

BTW, problem also occurs on my notebook and tower with Ubuntu only.

[Bug 1233427] Re: Installing wine removes vital packages

2013-10-26 Thread Rolf Leggewie
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1221301 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1221301

Scott, not really, since this problem is reported against saucy and bug
1218645 will only be fixed in trusty. Furthermore, this looks awfully
similar to the dependency problem in bug 1221301.

Marking as dupe

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1221301
cannot install wine on saucy: wine1.4 : Depends: wine1.4-i386 (=

[Bug 1243339] Re: lightdm no longer runs guest session through wrapper

2013-10-26 Thread Robert Ancell
Note that disable-guest-wrapper is no longer supported or required -
this was needed when the guest wrapper was hard-coded into LightDM. Now
it is configurable the tests can run without this option.

[Bug 1243339] Re: lightdm no longer runs guest session through wrapper

2013-10-26 Thread Robert Ancell
This is due to a change in lightdm 1.7.5 - the guest wrapper is now
configurable and the Ubuntu package was not setting it.

The solution is to add a file into /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d to set
this, i.e.:

I wonder why wine1.4 on an amd64 system still depends on wine1.4-i386?!
Maybe this needs to be "wine1.4-i386|wine1.4-amd64" instead.

[Bug 886449] Re: [USB-Audio - USB Camera-B4.04.27.1 (playstation eye), recording] Pulseaudio fails to detect card

2013-10-26 Thread Joshua Kugler
I think my issue is related to this bug. This is Ubuntu 12.04.
Attached is what I get when I plug it in to the USB port.

I get the same issue with Alsa mixer. If I tries to select the camera as
a card, Alsa mixer dies with the "invalid argument."

[Bug 1213239] Re: Bluetooth subsystem dies after suspend

2013-10-26 Thread gpothier
I did some testing with the 13.10 release version:
Kernel 3.10: works fine
Kernel 3.11-rc1: fails

I marked the bug as confirmed as per Joseph's instructions.

I've seen similar bug reports on other distros, it seems something got
broken in kernel 3.11.

[Bug 1245107] [NEW] GPU is very slow

2013-10-26 Thread Václav Bohata
Public bug reported:

On linux-lts-raring, my intel GPU (Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core
processor Graphics Controller) is much slower. In linux-generic-lts-
quantal "vblank_mode=0 glxgears" returns more than 6000 FPS, in linux-
generic-lts-raring "vblank_mode=0 glxgears" returns about 3000 FPS.
This is not a measurement problem - I am using OpenCV in my programs -
in linux-quantal tracking object takes 6 ms, in linux-raring it takes
more than 20 ms. I am using lts-raring mesa (9.1.4).

[Bug 1245007] Re: nvidia-319 319.32-0ubuntu7: nvidia-319 kernel module failed to build

2013-10-26 Thread Daniel Letzeisen
The nvidia-319 package has not been patched for kernel 3.12.x yet. If it's the
same patch that is needed for 3.11.x (which is possible because it spits out
the same errors), then it should be a simple matter of changing this line to
include 3.12:
PATCH_MATCH[1]="^3.[10-11]"
Reference:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/146910992/nvidia-graphics-drivers-319_319.32-0ubuntu5_319.32-0ubuntu6.diff.gz

Rather than waiting for a patch which may never come (binary drivers tend to
not get patched for newer kernel support in non-development or non-LTS Ubuntu
releases), you may want to just try the 325.x or 331.x nvidia driver from:
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter=saucy

** Summary changed:

- nvidia-319 319.32-0ubuntu7: nvidia-319 kernel module failed to build
+ nvidia-319 319.32-0ubuntu7: nvidia-319 kernel module fails to build on kernel

Jon-o Addleman, the next step would be to identify the earliest mainline

backported. Could you please do this following

[Bug 1214186] Re: ubuntu release upgrade failed due to too many open files

2013-10-26 Thread Mike Carifio
Still broken for me. I enabled saucy-proposed, 'sudo apt-get update' and
then 'sudo do-release-upgrade -p'. Same errors. Do I need to install
packages from saucy-proposed before doing the 'do-release-upgrade'? Pl.
advise. Thanks.

[Bug 1245106] [NEW] evince frequently freezes after upgrade to new version of Ubuntu

2013-10-26 Thread Nigel Weeks

Frequently use a few large PDF's for university reference. Before
upgrade, evince displayed and searched these PDF's all day without

Only method of fix is to hit close button on frame border, or kill the

[Bug 1241904] Re: mir graphics corruption AMD ATI mobility radeon Xpress 200

2013-10-26 Thread Israel Dahl
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1233545 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1233545

I tried desktop recorder, but that looked fine when I used X, again... so I
shot a video with my phone, so the quality is not extremely good.
But, as you can see using Mir is absoulte wackiness. It is very responsive,
though, and I look forward to a version that doesn't cause nausea :)
Well, I guess it may be Xmir, but I suppose you'll know if this is the same bug
soon.

p.s. I opened and watched this in VLC, not sure why "videos" didn't
recognize it.
