Ok I found the package needed, this command fixes the issue:
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0:i386
It pulls a lot of 32-bit libraries and then Skype can get the proper
themes and colors, included high contrast ones. I am not sure if there
is a smaller subset of libraries needed, but this is what

responding. What I really know is that the --no-xmlpost option fixed it
somehow. I assumed it was related to the code that I looked at briefly
that you appear to have also found restricting to auth group to the
choices

It is not hardware related, it is not linked to /etc/pulse content (unchanged)

There are TWO issues with Skype debian package shipped at skype.com at
the moment:
1. After the installation of Skype the button is showing Install like
nothing happened, despite has been correctly installed, this bug was
fixed in Ubuntu 13.04 and regressed again in Ubuntu 13.10.
2. To uninstall
Finally, after scrolling around the middle (?!?) Skype is there, buried where
no one will ever discover.
Uninstalling from command line is going to be easier than the UI, unfortunately.

so this bug just happened to me. I was running a local juju environment
(which uses LXC), and then my computer froze. I used SysRQ + REISUB to
reboot it and then my juju-local environment was unable to start. I've
destroyed the environment as well as all containers and rebooted after

This might work great on Desktop Screens but I've personally always used

I dont understand the disagrees about version of symbol error
considering everything matches:

on every boot i got the do you wish to start with a degraded RAID warning
message.
After skipping the message and starting with the degraded RAID everything
looks fine. There is no rebuild running and the raid state is clean.
