[Bug 1266683] Re: Samba cannot connect to shared folders in nautilus
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It could be that samba doesn't have permission to browse the list of servers under a particular domain here, or is otherwise somehow failing to enumerate the available servers under a domain. It isn't clear to me what nautilus is doing to get the browse list from samba. To make progress on this bug from the perspective of the samba package, I think we need: 1. A description of how to reproduce samba failing to get the list of servers and/or shares, directly from samba in the way that Nautilus does it that is failing. 2. Somebody who understands this area better to confirm that browsing domains in your configuration is expected to work, based on how Windows networking works, rather than this being fundamentally not possible (in case that is the reason why samba cannot do it). ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1266683 Title: Samba cannot connect to shared folders in nautilus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1266683/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1266808] [NEW] No mechanism to wait until a started container is ready and has finished booting
Public bug reported: If I script a container start, I also want to script a wait until the container has finished booting. Otherwise I start using the container, write to /tmp, and then /tmp gets cleaned. I'm sure there are more race conditions, too. [Bug 1247803] Re: dnsmasq temporarily breaks DNS resolution when starting for the first time
Thanks for your reply, Thomas. I now agree that it is the maintainer's choice as to which of the proposed implementations should be used. I've made a separate branch with the more complex conditional and attached it to this ticket. What's the next step? I'm new to the whole ubuntu package maintenance process. I see Simon Kelley is listed as the maintainer -- is it up to him to choose one of the proposed solutions? Also, I've based my patches off of the precise branch, because that's the distro I use most frequently. Is that sensible? Should I have based it off of trusty instead and backported later? [Bug 1240054] Re: ec2-facts not shown when running in AWS VPC
Hi, You reported this against 12.04. Could you please test with the development release (14.04/trusty) and see if it is fixed ? The upstream issue you've pointed to is marked as fixed. The latest upstream is 1.7.4 [1] and trusty has version has 1.7.2 [2], but It seems like even 1.7.4 might not have that fix. Can you verify the problem still exists on trusty? It seems to me to still be broken based on running: $ facter | grep ec2 when inside a vpc, nothing is shown. On a non-vpc instance, there is data found. Do you know if it is fixed in any released version of facter? -- [1] http://puppetlabs.com/misc/download-options [2] https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/facter ** Changed in: facter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: facter (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to facter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1240054 Title: ec2-facts not shown when running in AWS VPC To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/facter/+bug/1240054/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1266893] [NEW] unable to complete getting the ephemeral images
Public bug reported: My setup: Trusty on an IBM Thinkpad x201. Onboard Gigabit is static on 10.0.0.0 (The private MAAS lan) Internet connectivity is via an 802.11n WiFi dongle My internet connection is a 10Mbit ADSL line I have installed and configured maas. The next step, per the instructions here: maas.ubuntu.com/docs/instal.html#import-the-boot-images is this: $ maas-cli maas nde-groups import-boot-images While doing this, I observed that it first called maas-import-pxe-files which ran to completion pulling all the PXE files and putting them in /var/lib/maas/tftp/* Next, it calls maas-import-ephemerals This ran and did NOTHING. It just sat there, no network traffic in or out, no disk activity, no data written to /var/lib/maas/ephemeral. I left it sitting for over an hour and it never actually started downloading any images . I finally killed off the process and ran maas-import-ephemerals manually. This time, it did begin downloading images, converting them and copying them to /var/lib/maas/ephemerals. But then it just stopped as though it had lost the connection th wherever it's downloading from, or something. It never exited, it just ... paused and never restarted. I let THIS sit for an hour and noticed that there was absolutely NO further related network activity, disk activity or aything. So I finally killed that process off as well. Next, I tried breaking it down into smaller chunks like so: $ sudo maas-import-ephemerals release=RELEASE Doing it this way, I was able to fully download Saucy, Raring, Quantal and Precise. Currently, trying with trusty does nothing (it doesn't seem to do anything at all. Re: [Bug 1263738] Re: login console 0 in user namespace container is not configured right
Quoting Joseph Salisbury (joseph.salisb...@canonical.com): One additional question, do you happen to know if this is a regression? Did this not happen with previous releases/kernels? This is not a regression, it has never worked right. We believe the problem is that if a task is !dumpable, then the kernel marks some of its /proc/pid files as owned by the global host root, which is not mapped into a user namespace. If that is the case, then the question is whether it is safe to mark them owned by the container root; or whether we can distinguish between tasks which became dumpable before switching namespaces; or whether there is something else we can do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263738 Title: login console 0 in user namespace container is not configured right To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1263738/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
For me this is still an issue (on the stable 13.10), but (un)fortunately I have no idea how to reproduce it or what factors (do not) contribute to it. So far, I seem to have found: - the version of nvidia-drivers or the use of nouveau is irrelevant - in Gnome, I have the impression that a freeze is much more likely when using multiple workspaces - it seems to happen very much less frequently when using Unity than with Gnome sessions (but I probably don't use the workspaces in Unity as much as in Gnome) Currently, I experience a freeze in Gnome-Shell within 1-3 hours after startup/reboot. I will happily grab the daily snapshot and see if it still happens there and then upload the apport-collect data. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184451 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1184451/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1266672] [NEW] Wrong key input after boot, although right language set
Public bug reported: Ever since the 13.10 Ubuntu upgrade I have this problem when I boot to my computer: although Slovenian input is set on login screen the keyboard is actually US. If I go to the keyboard settings I only see that the right (Slovenian) language is set. I can get back to my keyboard if I click 'lock/switch' account, and then click the 'Switch user' button to login to my account again. After that Slovenian keyboard is back. This problem doesn't appear on every (re)boot, but mostly (some 80%).
