Yep, sad to say this is still happening, 2 years later. Brand new
install of 14.04 LTS goes into high cpu usage during boot and you never
make it to a usable login prompt with LDAP enabled. Tried setting the
LDAP URI to localhost, LAN IP and it's FQDN, no effect.
Luckily, the workaround posted in
besides setting MTU to 1480, it is wise to do:

scheme does not atm. Since we are follwing that scheme closely this is not a bug

Background:
Symptoms are 50-120% CPU usage when scrolling (especially Firefox),
dragging around a window, resizing windows, basically any 2D graphics
rendering on the desktop. This happens both in fglrx and the open source

This (or something very much like it) still occurs in relation to
failing resume from suspend on my Dell T7600.
watchdog complaint is echoed to tty and resume fails.
This is on an up to date Ubuntu 12.04, and has affected the last few
kernels (a few months I think, but haven't kept the old ones
