[Bug 1315188] Re: No init.d script included in icehouse ubuntu packaging
Maybe I'm missing something but why doesn't Canonical fix this. On one hand they advertise as being Open-Stack Friendly and even the best flavor to use with OpenStack but yet they refuse to play nice with a script that was written by OpenStack to automate installation, opting instead for it's them who should change, not us rhetoric. To top it all off, I fail to see the reason why support was cut in the first place. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to keystone in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315188 Title: No init.d script included in icehouse ubuntu packaging To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keystone/+bug/1315188/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1345059] [NEW] linux-cloud-tools missing from precise
Public bug reported: The Trusty Tahir Hardware Enablement Stack for Ubuntu 12.04 is available and being aggressively promoted to existing Ubuntu 12.04 deployments running now End-of-Life Hardware Enablement Stacks. However, the linux- cloud-tools packages have not been made available to Precise users. This package was newly introduced in Trusty Tahir and contains cloud specific tooling associated with a given kernel version, separate from the general tools provided in the linux-tools packages. Right now, this package only contains Hyper-V specific daemons and utilities. The result of this is that on updating to the Trusty HWE the userspace hv-kvp-daemon Hyper-V daemon previously provided by the linux-tools packages is no longer present and will fail to start when the hv-kvp-daemon-init package attempts to do so: hv_kvp_daemon not available for kernel 3.13.0-30 This is in my view a very serious issue as it risks potentially breaking Hyper-V deployments of Ubuntu 12.04 which have either updated to the Trusty HWE or will be installed via the 12.04.05 installation media (the latter has yet to be released). From my brief look at the packaging situation the linux-cloud-tools packages depend on a newer version of sysv-rc than is currently available for 12.04, though, this is the only unmet dependency and I'm unsure if the newer sysv-rc is technically required or was just pinned against the release that Ubuntu 14.04 shipped with. ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: hv-kvp-daemon-init (Ubuntu) = linux-meta (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to hv-kvp-daemon-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1345059 Title: linux-cloud-tools missing from precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/1345059/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1320488] Re: hv-kvp-daemon-init incompatible with kernel 3.11

[Bug 1344796] [NEW] Failed to install Grub during installation
Public bug reported: I am running a MedionAMD A8-5500 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics × 4 system with Windows 8 on the primary drive. I had an installation of Ubuntu 12.04 on a plug in 1TB USB drive - mapped as \sdc. Grub was installed on the plug in drive so that the PC would boot directly to Windows if the drive was not plugged in and give GRUB options when the drive was plugged in. I intially attempted an upgrade of 12.04 to 14.04. This appeared to complete successfully but on reboot GRUB would fail to run and went directly to Grub Rescue. I attempted to follow the boot repair process on Ubuntu wiki- this failed to complete correctly leaving the PC in the same state. Finally I attmempted a full install from a USB stick. All complted until it crashed out having failed to install grub. I hope the auto generated bug splat has been automatically attached to this but found the Launchpad startup itself buggy. [Bug 1315188] Re: No init.d script included in icehouse ubuntu packaging
Maybe I'm missing something but why doesn't Canonical fix this. [Bug 1283826] Re: lightdm hangs after updates
I recently installed ubuntu studio 14.4/trusty and though the installation seemd to go well and the system had been working fine, yesterday when I ran the gui Software Updater and did a restart when the updates were done (as it wanted me to do) the computer went through a welcome screen that says Ubuntu Studio for creative humans etc, then to a log in where I entered my password, then to a blank screen. The first time that blank screen had (I'm quite certain) my desktopp image, but the boot process stopped there. The next times I tried to boot it got to almost the same stage, but never to the desktop image, instead there was only a blank white screen (I don't know if it's significant but rather than pure white it was white with what looked like many single pixels of a darker color, as if the screen were dirty). Normally the next thing presented would be a dialog offering that I could select a session, but it would get stuck before that. In its stuck state the mouse still worked, with a mouse pointer image moving around on the screen. I could also do ctl-alt-Fn and get to a console, but to be honest I didn't know what to do from there. For unusual reasons I happen to have a backup of the root partition made with fsarchiver just before I had tried running the Software Updater and with this I could last night restore the partition to the state it was in just before the system was hosed. If it would be helpful in debugging this issue I could for example run Software Updater again and then mount the presumably hosed system from a copy of Quantal I have on an external drive, then copy and upload somehow the apt and dpkg logs (and/or others). I don't know if it's possible for you to contact me (I'm new to launcpad) but assuming it is, then please let me know if you'd like me to do this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283826 Title: lightdm hangs after updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1283826/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1344817] [NEW] Console applications in the menu do not open correctly
Public bug reported: Use case: I have installed Bastet (console game) It runs perfectly when i start it via command line or via unity interface (where it opens the terminal window, and then starts the program). When i try running it via Applications menu in PC MAN FM i get a new bash terminal, but the application (bastet) doesn't start. I would expect to see the applications menu to function just like unity or other application menu interface. Would this be a bug in objc or should we (I) fix something for gnustep-base. I need config.log to analyze this. Can you obtain it? I have no idea, but I expect not. [Bug 1305522] Re: Backport Synaptics HID touchpad driver for 14.04
I'm not using Ubuntu nor the kernel here posted, but Debian sid with kernel 3.16-rc* I have the same problem reported in comment #78. powertop reports a high number of events/s for DLL060A:00 and also INT33C3:00. Doing what was suggested in #80, I got the following: irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.869064: rmi_f30_input_event -rmi_raw_event irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.879318: rmi_raw_event -hid_input_report irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.879323: rmi_f11_input_event -rmi_raw_event irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.879327: rmi_f30_input_event -rmi_raw_event irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.889271: rmi_raw_event -hid_input_report irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.889275: rmi_f11_input_event -rmi_raw_event irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.889277: rmi_f30_input_event -rmi_raw_event irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.899350: rmi_raw_event -hid_input_report irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.899353: rmi_f11_input_event -rmi_raw_event irq/39-DLL060A:-315 [002] 643.899356: rmi_f30_input_event -rmi_raw_event This is just a small part of what I get, the above lines are continuosly generated at a constant rate even without touching the touchpad. Right after a reboot those lines appears only when touching the touchpad, but after some use, they are constantly generated. After some tests I found that this happens once ABS_MT_TOUCH_MAJOR reaches 12. I'm not sure of this, but I tried a few times already and this is the only relation I could find. Can anyone confirm this? Use 'evtest' to see the value of ABS_MT_TOUCH_MAJOR. I would also like to add that I think that the events are sent at a higher rate when compared to the old driver. I think this is causing a higher power consumpion when using the touchpad. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305522 Title: Backport Synaptics HID touchpad driver for 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1305522/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1325142] Re: failure to update libpam-systemd in 14.04 due to missing logind init script
Similar problem here. I'm using UCK (Ubuntu Customization Kit) to create a custom 64-bit Xubuntu 14.04 image. When in chroot (via uck-remaster-chroot-rootfs) it is not possible to upgrade oder dist-upgrade. It will fail with the described dependency errors. Besides libpam-systemd and whoopsie I also have it happening on the linux-image: linux-signed-image-3.13.0-24-generic : Depends: linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic (= 3.13.0-24.47) but 3.13.0-24.46 is installed Depends: linux-image-extra-3.13.0-24-generic (= 3.13.0-24.47) but 3.13.0-24.46 is installed For libpam-systemd and whoopsie I can workaround it by editing the following files as described by hamish: /var/lib/dpkg/info/whoopsie.prerm /var/lib/dpkg/info/libpam-systemd\:amd64.prerm /var/lib/dpkg/info/libpam-systemd\:amd64.postinst (change exit $? to exit 0 in the invoke-rc.d lines) The linux-image fails on something different. There is a unexpected fi occurring in the following files: /etc/kernel/postrm.d/zz-update-grub /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub They contain an if statement with the if body commented out so the 'fi' directly follows the 'then' which is a syntax error: if [ -e /boot/grub/grub.cfg ]; then #exec update-grub fi Also commenting out the 'if' and 'fi' lines works around it. Btw. the method by Silvia (putting the packages on hold) does not work for me, because it will fail to create the /boot/vmlinz-* files which I need for my modifications. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325142 Title: failure to update libpam-systemd in 14.04 due to missing logind init script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1325142/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1289977] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Update breaks grub, resulting in error: symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found
I can't believe that anyone may chalk this up to a supposedly incorrect setup:as many others have reported,I've just done a clean install (Lubuntu Trusty) from CD to a new hard drive, the installation process finished normally and then the system could not be booted, period. After fiddling with grub commands and managing to boot the system only to confirm that once booted there were no issues and the problem was the boot process in itself,I've resorted to a separate boot partition as advised in many threads, which only partially solves the issue:the system can now boot, yet it still spits out error messages in the process, and furthermore can't be rebooted,it has to be shut down and then restarted. I've installed several Debian and Debian-based distros so far (including earlier Ubuntu releases) on not-standard multi-boot setups, reinstalled Grub after recovering some partition, and not once run into this issue:I can't see how reinstalling/reconfiguring Grub, resorting to command line methods or having to otherwise repair Grub may be part of a normal installation process. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1289977 Title: Ubuntu 14.04 Update breaks grub, resulting in error: symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1289977/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1319149] Re: [HP Pavilion 11-n038ca x360 PC] Boots very unreliably
Hi, I've been fiddling around with this for a while. Booting with init=/bin/bash allowed poweroff -f to work. So I then booted into full userspace and started to rip modules out with rmmod. It appears that the laptop has a Synopsys DesignWare controller embedded in it. This makes the kernel load the dw_dmac_core and dw_dmac modules. An rmmod of dw_dmac produces an instant lockup. I think it is the same lockup happening at shutdown and reboot. Blacklisting both modules makes shutdown and reboot work correctly for me. I suspect that some sort of DMI based blacklist will be required in the kernel. Exposing the hardware to user space probably isn't the best idea anyway. ** Description changed: You must follow this steps to reproduce the bug: 1. Focus the desktop (or Files (nautilus) window, or System Settings window or etc). 2. Press menu key and you'll see that a context menu appears. - 3. Go to the second step and you see a new context menu over the previous one. (You can note this if you look at its shadow). + 3. [Bug 1341275] Re: [Gigabyte GB-BXi7-4470R] Kernel panic in rtl8821ae
Hi Christopher, Looks like that did the trick. I can successfully boot the trusty- updates kernel: $ uname -a Linux dcoles-brix 3.13.0-30-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 4 21:40:53 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date F5 06/23/2014 Little tricky to do the BIOS update since the image is now too big for a FDD image. Best bet seems to be putting a FreeDOS image on a USB stick, copying over the BIOS updater files and running it off that. [Bug 1069964] Re: Unable to mount Blank CD-R disc. Location is already mounted.
Running latest stable today, I can still confirm this bug, if this is a problem with gvfs, the importance should be elevated and the maintainer for that package notified, since that could be a critical issue. I dont know myself, I need someone far more experienced to take a look at this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069964 Title: Unable to mount Blank CD-R disc. Re: [Bug 1343245] Re: virt-aa-helper does not whitelist actual source dev='...' paths for domain disk type='volume'
Quoting Tero Marttila (te...@paivola.fi): A type=VIR_STORAGE_TYPE_VOLUME disk is not necessarily a virStoragePoolDefPtr.type=VIR_STORAGE_POOL_LOGICAL, and may or may not involve a /dev/... path; the logic for translating them into src paths seems to be somewhere like qemuTranslateDiskSourcePool() via virStorageVolGetPath(), and seems to also depend on the mode? I did see that code and was worried that might be the case. AFAICT the significant difference is between the persistent config and the live running config for a domain; the later contains the actual translated source dev='...' / paths directly. Ideally virt-aa-helper would be based off of the translated config? Doesn't seem to be, though there may be some way of doing that that I'm not aware of. Current virt-aa-helper just seems to only read the domain's xml and works purely based on that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1343245 Title: virt-aa-helper does not whitelist actual source dev='...' paths for domain disk type='volume' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1343245/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
