ooshlablu is correct. You cannot preseed network settings in a preseed
file which the installer is loading from a network location, because the
network needs to be configured before the preseed can be fetched.
The solution here is to pass the appropriate options on the kernel
command line.

I had to re-install gnome-core as most of it had been removed by the

I'm another person being harassed by gpu-manager. Every couple reboots
it decides the system configuration has changed and removes xorg.conf.
That causes the machine to end up in an unusable state, because that

Thank you for taking the time to report this crash and helping to make
this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1229021, so is being marked as such.
Ok, I commented the Start on lines at the top of the
/etc/init/gpu-manager.conf file.
This is what I did:
My Laptop has two video cards a Intel Haswell and a Nvidia Quadro K3100M
The laptop was working with the nouveau drivers on the Intel card and that
worked OK.
I upgraded the Intel drivers

This bug is ancient. It is highly unlikely we will be able to fix it, as
the application menu and places menu are two different plugins, so they
can't communicate directly. So we would have to make a message passing
system in the panel or combine the two plugins in to one.

I think it may have something to do with the gtk header bar, considering
how the problem (at least in my case) applies to Nautilus, the browser
previously known as Epiphany, the gnome core application Documents, as
well as the gnome core application Photos; these applications all use
the gtk
As the original reporter of this bug after seeing the change on the wiki
I have accepted this bugs state as invalid as I truly did not know about
that change and yet keep getting more comments that do not read the wiki
link in this bug report that mark it as invalid. I even went so far as

Also seeing this on the desktop, as james-fsck machine grinds to a halt
in swap after a few days.
I was forced to hard reset as I couldn't afford the time to try and get
back into the system, if this happens again at a less critical time I'll
try and collecty output per above.
